I was anticipating the layoff would come at the end of the year beginning last summer so it didn't come up as a complete shock when it happened and the wife and I saved up nearly a year's worth of my salary for a emergency fund / down payment on our 1st home when/if we decided to buy so we are fine. We had been talking for years about me getting out of the practice of law (due to my unhappiness with the job/"profession") and were planning on me transitioning once she finished her fellowship and started her "big girl job" which is in a little over 2 years now so the question is do I try to find a job for two years or just transition now.

Allot of my recent trophies have been of the gold/silver variety but I too was surprised how quickly the % went up.
