Are you playing the game on the 360? If so did you install to the Hard Drive? Right now it is actually better to play off the disc due to issues with streaming content and problems with textures not coming in properly. It might help clear up a few things, though the TV you have is not helping.

    Stats so far:

    Level: 12
    Race: Khajit
    "Class": Two Weapon Fighter
Skills I will be using: Lockpicking, Sneaking, Smithing, One-Hand Weapons
Perks with points so far: One-Hand Weapons and Smithing

4 extra perk points waiting to be used once I get 50 in OHW skill or 60 in Smithing (both are close). No magic at all since, so far, early in the game, magic is WAY overpowered compared to swords, plus, the new combat system is REALLY enjoyable.

5 hours into the game now. Killed my first dragon, that was pretty sweet. The ability to use a dragon shout is badass.

The main difference between this and Oblivion is there are enemies like wolves and skeletons that you just own with one shot, but there are some characters to start off with, you want to stay the hell away form. i.e. Giants and Frost Trolls to name a few.

I decided to go as a Nord on my first playthrough since we're up north in Skyrim. I need to find me a good one-handed sword so I can have the healing power in the left hand. Right now, I am using an iron battleaxe I found in the first part of the game, and it's 28 damage compared to I think 14 is my strongest one-handed sword.

Overall, I have a feeling this game could be better than Oblivion, which is one of my favorite games of all time.

Right off the bat, I have a shit ton of side quests built up. I've been mainly just doing the main quest lately, but if it is like Oblivion, there will be a point where I'll need to get side stuff done to get built up.

Mors, what do you think of the story so far with the civil war and bringing back of dragons, etc.?

Here's an awesome bug when an Imperial Guard tries to fight a Giant

As an aside, has anyone fought a Giant yet? When I met up with the equivalent to the Fighters Guild (can't remember their name off the top of my head)....the four of us took out a Giant with no problem, but I cannot get one on one with a Giant. I get destroyed in one blow.

Another sweet bug. Do you want to see a horse ride a dragon?

    Here you go Mors...

There's already over a hundred mods out for Skyrim. We've rounded up the best ten so far: http://bit.ly/rw31Tt

I've now killed 3 dragons and my last two encounters were both at night and right after leaving a dungeon. My reaction each time is always, "oh shit!" Luckily, I recruited Faedren and I keep him loaded with arrows and an enchanted frost bow, so he helps me chip away at the dragons health from a safe distance.

I recruited the chick who I got in a fist fight with in a bar/inn she was rejected by the fighters guild and is pissed about it and thinks she can take on anyone...bets you 100 gold to a fist fight. I knocked her out, then talked to her again, she was impressed how I knocked her out so she joined me

The problem was I was going up those 7000 steps to the Graybeards and came across a Frost Troll. I kept getting owned by it, so I used this ultra powerful fire scroll....unfortunately it's a ring of fire not just a straight shot, so I would always kill her finally I was smart and used a frenzy scroll on the troll (I'm a poet) and he ran off while I continued up the stairs. I got to the monestary last night when I went to bed.

So far, it's interesting, though I haven't really delved much into the main quest yet (haven't even went to the Greybeards yet). I read in one of the reviews of the game that the main quest is only ~2 hours long, which seems completely wrong to me. I did just small parts of the beginning of the main quest, and it took me ~1 1/2 hours to do that. No way it's that short.

As for the story so far, it's definitely better than the whole bullshit with Oblivion. That stuff was so horribly written, it was atrocious. At least, with this, it's semi-interesting. I'm anxious to check out the rebellion side of things and talk to Ulfric Stormcrow. The beginning of the game made it sound like he's a Dragonborn as well or at least has the ability to use Thu'uns as well, which is definitely intriguing.

So far, though, I've been trying to finish up what quests I can in Whiterun before I go gallivanting off to another city. Becoming the Thane after killing the first dragon is REALLY cool. That's a VERY cool story plot. They definitely seemed to have learned how to write better dialog and such.

Yeah. I've seen that bug. It happens sometimes when you get hit by them like that as well. It's silly, but definitely makes you feel ridiculous underpowered when fighting them.

As for killing one of them, I haven't even tried as I've seen videos of people getting destroyed by them so I figured I'd steer clear of them for now.

Yeah, I found that earlier myself. Nothing really all that groundbreaking yet, which is to be expected considering they haven't released the Skyrim Construction Set yet. Those are only going to be the tip of the iceberg once the SCS gets released.

I'm guessing the main story is more than 2 hours long....

Bethesda had a contest on which dev could beat the game the fastest, and I think he came in just under two hours.

For us non-devs, from what I heard the main quest is around 40 hours.

Regarding the main quest (this is VERY early on)

    Spoiler: show
When you go try to retrieve the Dragonstone, that alone took a while to get through that cave.

Yeah, that's a pretty big cave, which is REALLY cool. That was the thing that really bothered me about Oblivion was most of the caves were really short.

There's this cave, that's just out there with no quest (or, at least, no quest that I've seen/gotten yet) that's covered in mist. It looks fuckin' gorgeous. Man, they did a REALLY good job of making cavernous areas look better.

If this buy one get another 50% off deal with Amazon lasts through tomorrow morning, definitely getting this as one of the two games, along with MW3. I had never even so much as read a sentence or watched a video of Skyrim until I saw a commercial for it a month or so ago, but it has quickly moved up my list of interests since then.

I thought I would have to backtrack all the way out of that cave at Bleak Falls at least there was an exit just past the Dragonstone

My first follower, who I got after becoming Thane, got killed in some random cave b/c I used the upgraded "Unrelenting force" and she was in the way, which sucks b/c she was carrying a lot of junk that I had planned on selling. But I much prefer Faedren b/c he prefers to stay back and fire away with his bow and arrow while I go do the heavy damage up close.

lol i got owned like 25 times by that troll. i ended up climbing up onto that little ledge on the left hand side there, just before the opening of where that frost troll is. he'll never climb up there to attack you, so i just shot arrow after arrow at him, while lydia kept hacking away at him.

Well, just killed dragon #2 a little while ago and got another shout word (you can disarm someone with it) from a monument on top of a mountain (guarded by a few Frost Trolls that I managed to completely avoid because they could slaughter me in a few hits).

Overall, I'm level 13 (almost 14) and enjoying the hell out of being able to make my own badass equipment via Smithing abilities. Have a Smithing of 50 now, which means I could go with true Heavy Armor if I wanted to, but I think I'm going to stick with Light Armor for now as I start to be able to make Elven Light Armor.

Did a quest in Whiterun where I killed a Redguard militia leader (who totally look like guys from Arabia) and got some badass Scimitars, of which, I immediately went to the Skyforge in Whiterun and upgraded to be utterly ridiculous (30 damage with each one of them now that I have 2 perk points in One-Handed Weapon damage). I'm basically a killing machine.

That's why I have learned before a big battle to tell them to wait, but usually it's too late.

Well, I have the perfect setup now. Joined the Thieves Guild in Riften and sold off all the stolen items I had. Time to go adventuring around Whiterun again as I steal from unsuspecting fools and fence it for cash in Riften.
