NBA 2K16 has provided a first look and info on a new mode entitled 2K Pro-Am.

In a nearly two-minute trailer, features of this new mode are briefly shown and/or listed: instant match-making, leaderboards, and customizable arenas, courts, and uniforms including uploadable logos. Users can play with friends or 'walk on' and the games will be 'NBA style basketball with time-outs and fouls.'

Based on this early, limited look, it appears 2K Pro-Am is a customizable version of NBA 2K15's Jordan Rec Center with match-making to help users get into the full-length games quicker.

Via the Xbox Smartglass App, feature set info for NBA 2K16 has been revealed. As marketing for the title has been slow and steady, this leak provides some basic information on all game modes, even revealing some of the major areas of focus.

The much recently teased 2K Pro-Am sounds like a mode for the top MyPlayers to battle it out in 5-on-5 matches with full NBA rules. (Perhaps a more restrictive Jordan Rec Center.)

MyTeam will employ a team creator that will allow users to customize team logo, uniform, and even arena. In this basic description it seems as if this mode is similar to that found in MLB The Show's Diamond Dynasty. (Confirmed MyTEAM features were announced in yesterday's 2KCast, including the ...

During this week's NBA 2KCast, Ronnie Singh and Chris Manning detailed the first information on MyTeam mode in NBA 2K16.

My Team in 2K16 will feature five card classes: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Amethyst, and Diamond. Classes will be defined by ratings range. The goal was to provide a clear definition for the value of each type of card.

Cards can also have a 'themes.' For example, a green theme means it is a dynamic rating card and that the player card will match the ratings assigned in ratings updates throughout the season. Should the player be traded, released, etc. their team designation will be updated as well. No theme means it is a static card and the ratings assigned to that card will not change during the year.

The other theme cards are 'Moment' cards (purple background). Should a player have a big game, a special card may be released shortly thereafter will ratings reflecting. These cards are auctionable. There are other 'theme' cards that will be announced at a later time.

The Michael Jordan Moment card (available only in MJ Special Edition) ratings will reflect his talents at the start of his career, "Game One MJ" as stated by Singh.

Also, cards obtained via Locker Code promotions will now be auctionable to help more users possibly acquire these cards. More MyTeam details will be announced in the future. ...

The lengthy lawsuit versus Electronic Arts and the NCAA may finally be drawing towards a close as the July 2 deadline for student-athletes to file a claim has now passed. 16,200 of the potential 93,000 claimants actually did so.

Student-athletes who filed claims could earn anywhere from $74-$6,700. 'Participation awards' will see named plaintiffs (including O'Bannon, Keller, Hart) receiving a combined total of $200,000. Lawyers will be taking in no more than 33% of the total $60 million EA/NCAA settlement, which equates to approximately $19.8M.

The next hearing for this case is on July 16 and that is where Judge Wilken may grant approval of the settlement. She must also rule on fees and expenses being sought by the plaintiffs' lawyers, proposed additional payments to the named plaintiffs, and objections that have been raised by three potential claimants.

Still on the horizon is the Kessler vs. NCAA lawsuit and also worth watching is how the NCAA and/or conferences/schools establish policy on allowing player likeness to be utilized and compensated in the future. These are the remaining key items to seeing a possible return of the NCAA Football franchise.

UPDATE - On Thursday, U.S. District Judge Claudia Wilken orally approved a combined $60 million settlement that ended claims against video game manufacturer Electronic Arts, Collegiate Licensing Company and the NCAA. More than 20,000 claims have been made and the deadline for players to seek money has been extended to July 31, according to Berman.

It's possible the dollar amount for players will increase. Carey said it's “very possible” that Wilken will reduce attorneys' fees from 33 percent of the settlement to 30 percent. If that happens, the pool of money would increase for athletes who make claims.

Continuing to detail gameplay improvements coming to the title, the latest NBA Live 16 developer blog focus on freestyle control and movement. The blog breaks down enhancements surrounding dribbling, shooting, passing, and screens. Here are some of the details from the blog:

    - Dribbling: Player size-ups via holding the right stick have been removed. Instead, control is now on a one-to-one basis on the right stick so users can determine the move and speed of the size-up manually. Once the defender is sized-up, R2/RT will help the offensive player make an aggressive move (drive) to the basket.

    - Shooting: This year a new shot meter and shot animations help users fully understand the quality of their shot. Players can shoot the ball at any point in the animation in Live 16, meaning they no longer have to wait for an animation to play out.

    - Passing: As shown in interviews from E3, a new dribble hand-off system allows users to manually select which teammate will come to the ball. Touch passing allows users to dictate that the offensive player will continue the ball moving even before they make the catch.

    - Screens: Users can decide which side the screen will be set and also re-call for a screen without having to wait for the initial roll/pop/screen to play out. During the pick and roll, pressing down on the left stick will switch between a roll or pop. Letting go of the screen button early will tell the screener to slip.
