That was a good job man. One thing I noticed, I don't know if this is how you do it, but it sounded like you maybe recorded the various mailbag questions in multiple segments and then edited them together or something instead of possibly doing it all in one massive recording and then editing out any restarts or anything. That was the first thing that stood out to me was going from say Nature Boy's question into the next one, there was a big difference in volume/vocal level between the two, as well it was an almost instantaneous switch from the end of the wrestling talk immediately into the next topic, without really any natural break of a second or two in there. Working in radio since 2008, it's just one of those little things that sort of stand out to me in every podcast or show on the radio that I listen to.
Still a great show nonetheless. Just listening to it reminds me that I need to start listening to the High Instability internet radio show every week again. I unfortunately haven't listened to that since sometime last fall.
Yeah, I couldn't quite make out if it was all one take or strung together individual segments. Still sounded good though and kept my full interest throughout the entire show, even on the topics I may not necessarily have a major interest in. Biggest thing then, based on your reply, is just be careful a bit with editing out the dead air, especially when going from one topic to the next. It really is something very minor, but it just one of those things that sort of bother me in podcasts and recordings when someone ends a sentence and instantly goes into a new one without even so much of a break as a second. It just sounds very unnatural.
When you're in the zone and rolling on sentence after sentence about a specific topic, that's fine and doesn't sound too bad if you keep it going without really too much of a break, but when going from one topic to a new topic, it sounds better and makes for a better transition to have one or two seconds of silence and dead air to sort of signify that you are done with that topic and are about to go into a new one. Again, a very minor thing and not really a big deal, just some suggestions and thoughts from my experience on air.
Cool man, I appreciate it! I'll just leave in the dead air then and if I delete a little segment of an error, I'll make sure to have some air in between.
YouTube vids for the first episode are done:
And Smooth, I just got a pop filter off Amazon so that should fix the problems you were hearing. I was trying to edit the pops out which is why it seemed like I pieced the segments together.
I just finished listening to the show. Great job JB.
Tentative rundown for Ep. 2:
- Top Story: Surprises and Disappointments in First Half of the 2011 MLB Season

- Fantasy Baseball Rundown
- The Gaming Tailgaters' Mailbag
Go ahead and post some quick hitters you'd like mentioned on this podcast!
