So MS swaying people over to their system would entice these hackers to try and hit XBL? If they want to hit XBL they are going to do it, not because MS said "hey come play our system"

In the mind of a deviant, it would be the same as saying, "our network is secure, join us." Just my opinion. Sorta like the feeling people get that the celebrations of bin Laden's death will bring more terror.

It's not necessary, IMO, for MS to overtly advertize Sony's failure. They can reap benefits from it without saying a word. No need to say, "We can't be brought down! Buy an XBOX!"

So these hackers are the equivalent to Navy Seals?

I don't think that would be the case at all. These hackers went after PSN for revenge on Sony sueing that one hacker. I could see them revering in the fact that they are driving business from Sony to MS, IMO

This. With the way Microsoft has been selling 360s the past 4 or 5 months, they don't even need to utilize Sony's network problems.

Even with that, you know there's going to be some people that will switch. That's just bound to happen. Hell, people switch between consoles every day for no reason whatsoever, so I'm sure a 3 week outage would probably increase that a bit.

No, in my illiterate illustration, the terrorists are the hackers, lol. What I'm saying is there is nothing to be gained from drawing the attention of the hackers by showing the bravado that "they didn't get us!"

Ahhh, that actually makes sense. Since the terrorist would be retaliating to the over excitement as would the hackers to the blatant promo of MS system

And I agree that MS won't do anything as they don't really want to put down Sony, but I don't agree that it would have the backlash that you think, IMO. They targeted PSN for a specific reason and I honestly think they would be happy to see the business moving away from Sony. This very easily could be the other way around.

I get it. But, undoubtedly XBL is already in some hacker's crosshairs (it doesn't have to be the same group). No need to stir them up, IMO.

I do believe that if MS started directly "bragging" about/using PSN's problem(s) to try to bring over new customers hackers would view that as a challenge.

Maybe I'm wrong here but I'm betting if hackers REALLY wanted to they could shut down Live just as easily as they have done to PSN.

PSN outage costing Capcom 'hundreds of thousands, if not millions,' exec says
You have to know with that kind of line thrown out there, Sony is doing everything they can to bring the system back up as quickly as they can.

So Sony doesn't plan on launching PSN until my birthday? That's a whole 21 days from now.

Personally, I heard Obama was behind it b/c FLOTUS was bothering him about kids playing too many video games and not buying into her exercise and eat right campaign.
