Northwestern gets their first win of the year as the destroy Army 59-14 in non-conference play. The offense was spread out evenly as tailback Arby Fields had 104 yards and a touchdown, quarterback Dan Persa had 194 yards and three touchdowns through the air and another on the ground.

The Cats defense looked better this week causing a couple of turnovers that resulted in easy scores for the Cats offense. The only points given up by the Cats were in the se cond half when the second string defense was in.

Northwestern now has two weeks off in a row before returning to action against Indiana.

Maryland defeats #16 Clemson 26-9, with big thanks to their defense.

Maryland's offense struggled most the game, mainly with the offensive line. They couldn't establish any kind of running game in the first half and the pass blocking wasn't very good either. thanks to some facemask penalties, they were able to get into field goal range twice to take a 6-3 lead at the half. Maryland's offense picked up a little bit in the 3rd, getting 2 more field goals, then in the 4th, finally getting an offensive TD to take a 19-3 lead. after pinning Clemson inside their own 5, Maryland's defense was able to get a defensive TD with a pick 6 by LB Demetrius Hartsfield. Maryland's defense played lights out all game, only allowing a late TD by Clemson, 2-pt played failed, so the game would end after a failed onsides kick by Clemson, 26-9.

Davin Meggett would end up with 94 yards on 29 carries and 1 TD. he was averaging less than 2 yards per carry in the first half, but finished at 3.2 YPC. LE Derek Drummond had 4 sacks in the game, DT Ian Davidson had 1.

UM beats BC, but the game was ugly and closer than the final score. The UM offense played silly, due to poor playcalling and players forcing things instead of just doing their roles. The coaches failed the players in this game, but it was putting together a couple scores late in the game that gave the margin.
Starting QB Denard Robinson is injured for 3 weeks, so star backup Devin Gardner will be leading the team on the field for the short term.

    The defense was solid however.

Got my ass handed to me on a silverplater by lilheavy and LSU.

GG man. Hope you didn't take offense to me just leaving like I did at the end of the game. I don't take losing well, especially a frustrating loss like that one. Definitely don't have the personnel to run the shoot/bone and boy was going with the 4-2-5 a bad idea (I fuckin' hate that defense as it is so I should have known trying to use it was a bad idea).

Of course, LSU being a full letter grade higher than Purdue certainly didn't help either (and your team speed is utterly ridiculous compared to mine).

Yeah just like with Solidice, the caliber of my players compared to you guys is the biggest difference right now. That 4-2-5 was your Achilles heal though. Both you and Solidice have solid gameplans and execute very well, you just don't have the personnel yet. I've been practicing that shoot/bone myself and plan to debut it next week against the computer.

The shoot/bone is some interesting stuff. I'm just not sure how well it's truly going to work against a human. You started just nailing my offensive line and I couldn't run the triple option at all because of it.

We have advanced to week three. Typically the deadline would be Thursday, but since I'm out of town from Wed-Sat, and busy most of Saturday after I come back, it will be advanced either Saturday afternoon or Sunday afternoon.

There are a lot of byes, and only one user game (myself vs. Solidice) if we stay on task, I could advance Tuesday night if everyone gets done.

Cobb and Newton* Lead Wildcats to Improbable 40-17 Win over #15 Hurricanes

    Key Performers
Morgan Newton, Junior QB - 195.0 QB rating, 412yd total offense, 4td
Randall Cobb, Senior RB - 253yd total offense, 1td
    Winston Guy, Senior FS - 3tk, 1 deflection, 2int

    Coach's Comments
An early fumble and some fortunate defensive plays allowed us to get out ahead early. Newton's mobility made their defense play aggressive which led to big offensive plays that ultimately sealed the game. Kudos the the lineman on both sides of the ball, I expected that to be our biggest disadvantage going into the game but they played great. On offense we were able to be very successful running the ball, and on defense their blockers never got into the second level allowing our linebackers to stop the run very effectively without us having to be too aggressive (which allowed us to play the pass most the game, which you have to do against a quarterback like Jacory Harris).

*I changed the name of my starting QB from John Fissel to Morgan Newton, because thats who its suppose to be. Pretty sure John Fissel is a walk-on safety

Cobb leads 72-10 Shellacking of Rival Louisville

    Key Performers
Randall Cobb, Senior RB - 283yd total offense, 4td
Morgan Newton, Junior QB - 251.9 QB rating, 219 total offense, 4td
Coshik Williams, Junior RB - 7car, 143 rushing yards, 2td

    Coach's Comments
Wish they all could be this easy. Good to see Williams playing so explosively with limited touches, Cobb gets worn down as much as he is used in our offense. Winston Guy got his third interception of the season, his senior leadership has been key in our secondary.

    Wow, talk about shellacking....

In other news, Purdue is finished with their recruiting. No commitments yet, but we've got quite a few interested parties.

so very strange that it wont let me and JB play each other. we played each other twice last season without any issues.

on my end when JB invites, I go to the team select page and can ready up, but it doesn't show anything for play-style, when I host, it never changes from "waiting for opponent". we both played other user games recently as well. I don't get it.

Yep I talked to one of the devs about this last week. And the good catch that you made in the play style not showing up I just passed that along as well. With that said we've advanced. Deadline is Thursday night.

No users games this week either.

Newton's 'Perfect' Game Leads Kentucky to 56-21 in SEC Opener vs. #23 Ole Miss

    Key Performers
    Morgan Newton, Junior QB - 354.8 QB rating, 15/15, 298 passing yards, 4td, 6car, 93yd, 2td
    Randall Cobb, Senior RB - 26car, 165yd, 7rec, 110yd
    Anthony Mosley, Senior WR - 3rec, 87yd, 2td

    Coach's Comments
Offense is looking great, but the schedule is just going to get tougher from here. I like our chances as long as Cobb and Newton stay healthy, but that doesn't seem probable as much as they both are relied on. Great game for Moseley who was moved from CB to WR to replace Cobb who was moved from WR to RB.
