Read a comment regarding all the stuff above:

"This is Phil Spencer cleaning up Don Mattrick's mess."

Truer words could not have been spoken.

Really excited about all the changes. I'm not a fan of the removal of Kinect, but I'm a bigger proponent of them hitting $400 to compete with Sony, and if they had to drop Kinect to do that, then so be it. As long as I'm able to continue using my voice commands and whatever, it wont bother me too much.

Unless there's a really compelling reason to own one, it will. That's why it was bundled in the first place. Standalone accessories RARELY do well. Kinect 1 was an anomaly.

I am stoked to see Games with Gold coming to XB1. At least it will be fairly new titles.

Yep, lots of good changes. I'm more excited about the 50-75% off discounts on certain titles every month. That has massive potential.

Also, I wonder what this entails:

And new on Xbox One, we will launch a virtual VIP room exclusive to Xbox Live Gold members where we will feature free games, monthly deals, and other great benefits.
Some great announcements. If they're revealing stuff this major now, what the hell do they have at E3.

    In Phil Spencer we trust!

Yeah if it is a retail title, that means $15.

Phil Spencer (new head of Xbox) on why this was revealed now:

“We wanted to get this out of the way so that E3 could be about the games and the great platform lineup.”
It's shocking to me. In the one month that Phil Spencer has been head of Xbox, he's made more good decisions than Mattrick did in his entire reign over Xbox. How the hell this guy hasn't be the head of it all along is mind blowing to me. In one month he's already dropped the price of the system, got Games with Gold on Xbox One, removed apps from behind a paywall, introduced a new discount program for Gold members, and has been going out of his way to communicate with fans via Twitter, which is something we NEVER got from anyone else.

Not to mention he's clearly focused 100% solely on games, where as it was all TV and apps before.

This guy is the best thing that ever happened for Xbox. Not a doubt in my mind.

Bruce Wayne: I know who you are. Let me tell you about this guy I know, Jack. Mean kid. Bad seed. Hurt people.

The Joker: I like him already.

IOU posted ALL of the details on the previous page.

Free games with Games with Gold**. Since Games with Gold launched on Xbox 360 a year ago, over 12 million people have enjoyed great free games, resulting in nearly 200 million hours of free fun playing Games with Gold titles. We’ve been learning from your feedback and have focused on making improvements each month to the selection of titles. To celebrate the one-year anniversary of Games with Gold for Xbox 360 and as a thank you for helping shape this program, members will receive an additional free Xbox 360 game in June. The Games with Gold titles for Xbox 360 in June are “Dark Souls,” “Charlie Murder” and a bonus game of “Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition.” We’re pleased to bring Games with Gold to Xbox Live Gold members on Xbox One in June. Members will have subscription-based access to free games ranging from top hits to breaking indie stars. The program will launch on Xbox One with “Max: The Curse of Brotherhood” and “Halo: Spartan Assault.” A single Gold membership will get you access to the free games for both Xbox One and Xbox 360.

Same here. I've been tempted to get it at times, but I either haven't had the extra cash to spend at the time, or I didn't feel like spending the cash at the time.

As for the new One coming out this summer, eh, I'm perfectly content with my Day One version. Kinect has really come in handy for me, especially with voice commands. Some people hate it, hey, it obviously not going to be for every person. For me, I'm happy with Kinect 2.0. I generally use it a lot more than I will my controller when it comes to jumping from one thing to the next or launching apps/games, etc. The people who have been bitching about Kinect 2.0, well, I guess they can't bitch anymore and claim it's why they aren't buying an Xbox One, since they'll now be able to buy one without the Kinect.

I will probably never use it for gaming, but it's worked really well for searching, starting streams with my voice, and turning the system on and off.

Yeah, the Kinect games that they have right now, not really anything there that interests me. That, and I don't really meet the space requirements for using the Kinect for games. I have limited space for my entertainment center (with TV, One, etc.), a couch and other stuff. So the couch is positioned rather close to the entertainment center. I'd pretty much have to stand on the other side of the room to really be able to use the Kinect for gesture controls and games. So right now it gets used almost exclusively for voice commands, which for me, that's good enough right now. It often makes things quicker and easier than navigate the various menus and whatnot via controller, so having Kinect 2.0 is worth it for me, even without playing Kinect games.

I have limited space too but it worked with Fruit Ninja. Right now the Kinect 2.0 is off to the right side of the entertainment center waist high so I'm not sure how well it would work for games or not.

Yeah, I may have to give it a try again at some point. I tried it last November/December with the Kinect Sports stuff, but I couldn't really get it to work with the movements and gestures. Maybe it'll work for some games, even being in as tight as space as everything is, while other games, I'll need a lot more space than what I have now.

Eh, I knew that would happen. It'd probably be no different than if the PS4 announced a $100 price cut tomorrow. That's the trade off to getting the console right away when it first comes out, you're going to pay that full price that they sell it for, while the later buyers get it for $50 or $100 cheaper.

Now granted, with a $100 price drop just six months after it released, I could see some expecting some kind of gift or reward for having supported the console early on at its full price.

Maybe MS will reconsider over the coming weeks and in the end give those who registered an Xbox One on their account by, say for instance May 1st, their choice of one or two free games from the Xbox Live Marketplace to make up the price difference.

It looks foolish at this point.
Did I call it or what? I ended up with a Kinect up my ass. Might as well have it there, it was not doing anything else.

This I agree with. Don Mattrick almost single-handedly destroyed the Xbox brand. Now he is at Zynga, helping to destroy them.
