I forget who or where, but I read some rumor/speculation that the first PS4 controllers did have an issue with the rubber wearing off the sticks and that newer versions were modified.

I wonder if some of the wear and tear comes down to how people hold/use the controller. Mine are still in great shape.

I'm guessing some of the instances are due to neglect. However, as I said, I have 2 launch controllers and the one started to wear pretty badly after less than 20 hours. It was ridiculous. Meanwhile, I have the other launch controller + the replacement with way more time and they both look brand new. They definitely had issues with some of the launch controllers.

No big deal, though, it didn't take me more than 15 minutes on the phone to have a replacement shipped to me.

Daylight comes out today. $9.59 for PS+ subscribers ($11.99 for non-Plus users) until 5/13. After that, Daylight will return to its regular price of $14.99. I'm going to get this one.

Today Sony Computer Entertainment released the new 1.7 firmware update, and published the official patch notes. Turns out, though, that the notes aren’t really complete, and the update includes several stealthy changes that Sony did not list, including some very relevant ones, like the ability to log in a second user with the same DualShock 4 controller, as discovered by NeoGAF user Guymelef and others.

• Notifications: New notification type: From PlayStation.
• System: You can now log in with multiple users with a single DualShock 4 controller without logging out the others.
• System: The “What’s New” menu now has timestamps.
• System: The log-in screen won’t be displayed anymore when reconnecting the DS4.
• System: When a game crashes you can now choose to attach a video clip in the error report and send it to Sony.
• System: Added option to automatically send error reports to Sony.
• Settings – Audio: You can now force the PS4 to output 5.1 channel audio over HDMI even if it detects 7.1 channel support.
• Settings – Video: “Deep Colur Output” added. It’s possible to set it to “off” and “automatic”.
• Share: It’s now possible to upload multiple screenshots to Facebook at the same time.
• Streaming: Comments/viewers notifications added when you are in a full screen streaming.
• Streaming: You can now upload screenshots and video while broadcasting.
• Streaming: You can now view comments without having to switch streaming modes.

In addition to the changes listed above, multiple users are reporting that the whole operating system is now faster, especially on the PSN storefront,on the trophies screen, on the “What’s New” section and during overall multitasking.
Finally, others are also mentioning that the bug that caused the “Share” button to record the wrong segment of footage has been corrected, and now it correctly records the latest fifteen minutes of gameplay.

If you update your phone to the latest app (1.70), you can also change your profile picture to any image from your phone and/or take a picture with your phone. Wonder how long it will take for someone to set their image as a dick pic.

You've been able to do this since launch. Just create a dummy Facebook account, upload whatever picture you want as your profile picture, link it to your PS4 account, and it would show your profile picture as your avatar. This just makes it easier.

The lame thing is that it only shows up as your avatar for people who have accepted your real name request. Other people see your original PSN avatar.

Saw someone on Twitter say you can save a clip of a cool moment even if you weren't recording. Now that is pretty cool.

You should have been able to do that before. The system is always recording the past 15 minutes of game play, which is what is captured when you press the share button.

Anyone run into any issue with this update?

I had some errors pop up when trying to view Friends Online and it did not resolve itself until I restarted the console.
