You presume that each and every console bought is opened immediately eh? I can assure you that is not the case. My nephew's PS4 was purchased at launch and sat in a box (excluding the time needed for me to format the new 1TB HDD I got him just before Christmas). I am willing to bet a large % of launch day/initial sales were Xmas presents that were not opened until Christmas.

3 million+ PS4s were out in the wild on Christmas as Sony had sold them contrary to your previous statement quoted above.

In sum, you lose (again).
