Nope aren't hardwired. Just appears to be your typical rechargeable battery that would go into a cordless phone...only smaller. Uses the same type of connector, smaller connector can't think of the end it is...2 or 4 pin believe.

Doesn't have any proprietary screws either.

Most difficult part is aligning the trigger buttons and sensor pads up when putting it together. I always hated that part but that's the only pain. Still only takes all of 5-10 minutes to complete. I say that long because I clean mine while apart.
