I doubt it would come to that as they've rumored to under clock it to make the yields more suitable. Here's an article on it, although I originally read about it somewhere else:

Microsoft may be facing issues due to starting development on the Xbox One late. They had earlier revealed that they had began work on it sometime in 2010 while Sony began PS4 work back in 2008.

Due to the delay, the company may be facing yield issues and has underclocked the Xbox One GPU.

The APU in the system is said to be big and has required a lot more AMD engineers. The original figure for GPU was given at 1.2 teraflops which may be reduced to 900 gigaflops which is 50% less than what the PS4 GPU is capable of.

Of course, things may change since there’s still a lot of time to go before the console comes out, but in order to prevent heat issues and another RROD fiasco, Microsoft may slow down the system purposely.

This has confirmed to be true by many sources but Microsoft can do something about it since there’s time. However, things aren’t looking too good for the Xbox One when it comes to facing the PS4 head-to-head in multiplatform port quality.
EDIT: Here's the original thread where multiple insiders leaked it

Kind of lends credit to that rumor that Microsoft was way behind in the in the development and manufacturing of their console.
Yeah my mom asked too and the girl at the counter said the ratio was like 2:1 in sales and available units. They must be behind in manufacturing compared to Sony. This gen is shaping up to be almost the exact opposite as the last. MS making mistakes on price behind on development + DRM etc...

Well regardless...I think I'll get an extended warranty direct from the PSN store. I'd do the same for XB1 in a heartbeat too.

Last I heard PS4 had 50% more. Don't take anything VG Chartz puts up as real data, they've been caught numerous times making up numbers. Not saying they're wrong on this, but take it with a grain a salt.

The two GS around me that I visit told me last week that right now it's about 2:1 in favor of the PS4, though. Given the higher price tag, I'm surprised it's even that close really.

    PlayStation 4 - Top 10 Pre-orders

    1. Battlefield 4
    2. Watch Dogs
    3. Killzone: Shadow Fall
    4. Madden NFL 25
    5. Call of Duty: Ghosts
    6. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
    7. Need for Speed Rivals
    8. FIFA Soccer 14
    9. Knack
    10. Driveclub

    Xbox One - Top 10 Pre-orders
    1. Battlefield 4
    2. Dead Rising 3
    3. Ryse: Son of Rome
    4. Madden NFL 25
    5. Call of Duty: Ghosts
    6. Watch Dogs
    7. Forza Motorsport 5
    8. Kinect Sports Rivals
    9. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
    10. Need for Speed Rivals

Yeah not sure how VG Chartz gets its numbers but I think its just another indication that Sony is ahead right now in the console war. Obviously MS felt that/knew that too and felt the need to remove the DRM in an attempt to catch up. Time will tell if it was the right move or if it just made them look weak.

I'm also surprised COD isn't #1 in pre-orders given 14 y/o love of that series for some reason. Also surprised Titan Fall (what looked to be XB1's best game) isn't even in the Top 10.

I think CoD is just not trying to innovate much any more, so they're not going to full take advantage of the new hardware like Battlefield 4 seems to be.

Yeah. Same here SC. If I buy any of the new FPSs coming, it'll be BF4 on the PS4.

$10 says the dog dies before the end of the campaign story. Just the existence of the dog all but cements its place on the list of deaths in the game.

Honestly, they pull most of them out of their ass. They've been caught making up numbers numerous times. If Microsoft wanted to catch up, they would've dropped the price, not their 24 hour check. The average customer (the vast majority of their potential consumers) wouldn't even know about all this online and used games stuff.

You just answered your own question as to why Call of Duty isn't up there. Call of Duty appeals to kids, plain and simple. Kids can't afford to throw down $400+ on a console, so they'll be playing on 360.

That's the understatement of the decade. They haven't innovated since Call of Duty 4, which is admittedly one of the greatest shooters of all time. However, when you released 5 or 6 garbage sequels in a row all with the same problems, the original gem tends to get overshadowed.

They've added some cool stuff, Kill Confirmed, weapon prestige, but yeah nothing overly innovative.

Yeah, but those are minor things. Hit detection is still horrible, spawns are the worst in any shooter, map design is amateur, too much of a focus on kill streaks, over powered kill streaks, unbalanced weapons, etc...

I could literally go on for days. The campaigns are fun for what they are, but the online just isn't there for me. I like the customization, but the game play needs to be better.
