Yeah that is sort of what I envisioned. Basic PSN = free. Pay for "+" which could end up being "+" "++" etc...

So stupid. Sony should be trying to eliminate load times, using load times as a tool.

Electronic Arts believes the arrival of next-generation consoles will be a watershed moment for the gaming industry. Speaking today during the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media, and Telecom Conference, EA chief technology officer Rajat Taneja said the new wave of consoles will usher in a new era of gaming.

"The console technology itself is a gigantic leap for our industry," Taneja said. "Any which way you look at the specifications, it is step function over what exists today. The new consoles are between 8 and 10 times the power of the current generation."

Taneja said EA is well-positioned to succeed when the PlayStation 4--and the rumored Xbox 720--arrive for three reasons. The first of which is that gamers simply will not be able to stay away, due in part to the advanced capabilities of these new machines.

"First, we no longer have to constrain our games or ration graphics or memory or bandwidth. We can let the games really flourish. 1080p, 60 frames per second, character physics on a much broader canvas, color saturation, lighting, particle effects; it will be a level of gameplay experience that is unprecedented, not been imagined before," he said. "It's going to create playing conditions for our gamers that are just going to be phenomenal."

The second reason Taneja said he believes EA will succeed on future-generation platforms is due to the company's existing technology smoothly scaling to the new systems.

"The architecture of the consoles is based on standard PC components and technology. So our own investment in our backend engine…and our libraries, our tools, will very smoothly run on these and make it easier for us to innovate to the new console technologies themselves," he said. "What used to take months in the past, will now take days."

That sounds great and all but the proof will be in the pudding. Ill be taking a wait and see approach this time. I sold my ps2 and bought NCAA as soon as it came out on the 360. ...we know how that turned out. I have played 13 longer than any other version of the game...even 2004 which was my favorite. I don't think 13 is better than 04 but I have definitely played 13 longer. Just won the NC in year 2021 in my offline dynasty for the first time. ...somehow I ended ranked #2 behind Auburn who I beat in the NC game.
I just hope we don't see that huge step backward like last time. :fingers crossed:

Yeah we shall see. It's funny to me that this same "spin" was what was claimed when the PS3 and 360 were announced. It's also interesting that most of the other gaming sites said the capabilities were better but not a "giant" step forward like EA is claiming.

Sony claimed that first with their demonstration.

I can't link the article as I can't pull up Eurogamer here at work, it just sits there and loads, but a Sony rep came out and stated PS+ will have a huge integration with PS4.

EDIT: Found the same article from The Verge - http://www.theverge.com/2013/3/1/404...ole-on-the-ps4

I want features and worthwhile games, Sony. Not "no features and 3 year old games." I'm really hoping they'll vastly improve on their Plus service. It doesn't help that over in EU they've been getting WAY better games than us.

It all started with a quote from Michael Pachter, a game analyst that rarely gets anything right, unless it is something obvious.

Yeah Pachter is a dumbass. And Jack already said the games are topping out at $60. Pachter must not watch Sony interviews

Perhaps I don't know much about the gaming industry but does Sony/MS have the power to tell developers what they can charge for their games? Sure Sony could make sure their games are $60 for PS4 but what keeps EA from charging $70 or $600 that matter for NCAA/Madden (other than just regular supply/demand issues)
