I think they'll be back. IIRC in the comics he's a fairly major player. But then again, you never know.

    Per The Talking Dead:

    Spoiler: show
They left after Rick's meltdown last week.

I assume they will reappear at some point.

    RE Axel:

    Spoiler: show
I thought Carol was going to get a free mustache ride, but no dice.

The Talking Dead was much better with Kirkman and the werewolf beefcake from True Blood (he seemed to be a huge fan of the TWD comics). The episodes with 'celebs' and no one involved with the show are usually significantly less entertaining. (IE: Kevin Smith )

I think you just have some personal vendetta against Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith is ALWAYS entertaining and I refuse to accept any reality where that is not the case.

Not even Carlin could save this one.

I like most of the stuff he has been involved with in the past, but I don't think he adds anything of value to The Talking Dead besides plugging Comic Book Men. Based on the previews, it looks unwatchable.

I finally watched this past episode lastnight.

    Spoiler: show
Rick finally looks to be back in the game and ready to ape shit for that last stunt Governor pulled. Glenn was going to go all Rambo for all of about 2 minutes. I was starting to like Axel..too bad he had to go.

Definitely looking forward to next week

Morgan returns but in such an unsatisfactory way IMO. He's been the longest running mystery and just was such a bad way to bring it back and not even close the chapter at that (though I bet he never returns again)

Also, regarding the hitchhiker, I really didn't like the fact that he had no weapon or anything yet he's somehow survived more than a year. Obviously there are circumstances that he could be without a weapon but even if I were run out of a camp or whatever, I'd still find a stick or rock or something to carry around with me.

That and it would have been an interesting twist if we somehow discovered after the fact that he was actually a guy that escaped from Woodbury and he could have given them insider knowledge (like Tyrese for the Governor).

I forgot about him completely, have to give the writers credit for stretching it out as long as they did. You lose your wife and son in a zombie apocalypse and spend all that time by yourself, going crazy is pretty much a given. I am just grateful that we got an Andrea free episode.

To be fair he could have a gun or knife on him that we did not see, as he was only seen from a distance. He probably had something (small weapon/ammo/food) in his backpack, hence Michonne driving back to get it. You tend not to carry around unnecessary extra weight when zombies are after you. I would add that any character that has been alive that long would be smart enough not to YELL for long periods of time, no matter how badly you wanted that ride.

It was nice to see Michonne break out of her shell this episode, Rick letting her drive was a nice touch at the end.

Just literally finished watching the episode on my DVR.

    Spoiler: show
Carl's 'Danny Torrance' face at the beginning when they got stuck cracked me the fuck up. He has that "seriously, the fuck you doing getting stuck in the mud?" look on his face.

As for Morgan, glad to see they finally had him make an appearance. I thought he was gonna end up some mystery that we would never see revealed. He definitely has gone the route of the psycho, which I do believe would happen to anyone in that situation, left alone like that for so long, watching both your wife and child die. Anyone would snap like that. And, I also think that is the last we see of him. He's in his own world and is so far gone from sanity, he would never really fit in with a group. This episode was pretty much the closure episode for the Morgan side plot.

Carl has definitely grown out of the innocent kid that he was in season 1 and most of season 2. However, he is still a big risk-taker, about to just go waltzing into certain death in that restaurant if Michonne hadn't stopped him.

The hitchhiker, I wasn't quite sure what would happen with him. I was expecting him to either end up like he did, bloody remains on the side of the road, or be so pissed at them leaving him in their rear view mirror twice, that he would try to set up a trap for them if they came back that way. If I was in that situation, I would be tempted to do that, either set up something in the grass around that wreckage to pop their tires or wait there in the woods with a gun or something. Teach those fuckers to just drive past me and leave me chasing them.

As for the episode as a whole, this was definitely a nice change of pace episode. Instead of just jumping right into the war between the prison and Woodbury, having this sort of slow pace episode with just Rick, Michonne, Carl and Morgan, close up one open hole in the story with the Morgan side plot, and open up Michonne some as a character instead of just this closed, shielded chick with a sword that goes from a loner to an outcast in both Woodbury and the prison.

    About Morgan

    Spoiler: show
Watching Talking Dead right now, they just showed a thing during their Inside Dead segment or whatever it's called, that producers wanted to bring Morgan back last season, but Lennie James is a very busy actor (so apparently his schedule didn't work until now to bring him back). I still agree with G that this will probably be the last time we see him. He has his own little world in that town and has color coded ladders, lines spray painted on the ground and various escape routes all over the town in regards to getting away from walkers or other humans. I can't see him leaving that and suddenly becoming un-psychotic enough to join a group.

I don't think it is surprising at all that Morgan is a wackjob. He has a really nice set up there in town though. It's amazing that the Governor hasn't raided all of those guns, but then again, maybe he's tried. It looked like there was fresh blood on that axe.

I'm torn with if it is the last we see of Morgan or not. I loved that last shot of them driving by and you see him with a couple of wasted walkers on the stretcher getting ready for the burn pile. As they said on the Talking Dead, he's a busy actor, so it could be the last we see of him. He was only in one episode ever before. As the title of the episode was Clear. That is Morgan's mission. To clear. So I don't think he'd even want to join any group no matter how good they are.

All in all, it was a great episode, one of my favorites. Definitely good to see Michonne opening up a little bit, and her sharing with Rick that it is okay to see people may sober him up somewhat, if seeing Morgan didn't sober him up already.

    As for the hitchhiker...

    Spoiler: show

He probably had something in that backpack. We'll probably find out next week. He's definitely no Tyrese with that hammer though.

Yeah even though Rick, Michonne, and Carl wasted the walkers over there, I'm sure his yelling attracted a good deal of walkers.

Sure, he may have had something in his backpack, but in the zombie apocalypse, you don't have it stuffed away in your pack, you have it in your hand. I watched the opening again on the replay and the only thing accessible on the outside of his pack was what appeared to be a camping skillet (ie really flimsy handle)...

I still say it will be interesting if they look in his pack and find that he's from Woodbury and he could have been their Tyrese.

He might have had a doomsday bunker that just ran out of supplies
