Naturally, there's controversy over what was actually said, and by how much of the crowd.

Naturally.

I will concede to them that it wasn't like the entire crowd was doing it. But it was well more than just a handful of fans. To be able to hear it in the video over the noise of the arena, and those who were there in the crowd, it appears to still at least be a pretty good size group of people chanting it.

I'm all for chanting and getting inside the head of someone shooting free throws, I love a good chant, but using a recently deceased grandmother as the basis for your chant? Absolutely tasteless, disgusting and classless. There are lines you don't cross and that pole vaulted over the damn line.

For whatever it's worth it sounded to me like "Past Your Bedtime" to me referring to Lewis' looking like a kid out there but IF it was indeed a "dead grandma" chant it was way out of line and seems ODD considering Duke was totally in control at that point in the game.

Also none of the Press ACTUALLY at the game heard said "grandma" chant.

It is clear as a bell that numerous idiots were chanting "How's your Grandma" on the second free throw. They were chanting "Past Your Bedtime" during the first. Just go to 35 seconds in and you will hear yet another reason why people hate Duke basketball. The Notre Dame of College Hoops.

I still hear "past your bedtime" during both free throws. Did a few idiots do a "grandma" chant? I dunno I wasn't there and it was despicable if there was one but the video "evidence" is inconclusive at best allowing prejudice to take over and the listener/viewer hears what they WANT to hear.

IRONICALLY, on another message board I frequent someone we shall call a "hater" said the exact opposite that the 1st free throw was "grandma" and the 2nd was "bedtime". So if the "haters" cannot even agree when the "grandma" chant occurred in the same video I'd say its pretty safe to say its inconclusive. NC State fans (that posted before and after the game on some of the boards I frequent) that were at the game also said all that they saw/heard was "bedtime"

I think there's definitely some idiots saying "grandma" during the second free throw. Possibly during the first. Either way, it wasn't as many as initial reports suggested. And it reflects less on Duke, in my opinion, than on how idiotic and insensitive college students are.

When I lived in Lubbock I attended some Tech baseball games and the stands were filled with some of the great hecklers of our generation. They also had a set of rules they played by.

A copy should be handed out to every student that enters the next Duke home game or stapled to their tents and I am pretty sure there is plenty of room to throw a few hundred up in the football teams trophy case. Worst case scenario, tape it on Duke Vitale's bald head.

Frank Martin does not like the South Carolina Gamecocks basketball team right now.

To be fair, I don't like them either, but I'm not paid to coach them.

Martin, following the team's loss to a fellow resident of the SEC's lower half, the LSU Tigers, he said some pretty brutal things about his guys. These are the eight harshest quotes, as transcribed by The Charleston (S.C.) Post and Courier:

Adidas unveils preposterous sleeved college hoops uniforms.

Adidas' new college basketball uniforms are a miracle, mainly because they manage to make those stupid-looking sleeved jerseys their second most preposterous feature.

Animal-striped shorts are the lowlight of the new uniforms six Adidas schools -- Baylor, Cincinnati, Kansas, Louisville, Notre Dame and UCLA -- will wear this March. Remember Fruit Stripe gum? Whoever designed these uniforms did.
