As for your team, that is quite the blow-up. There was a 3-4 DE in my ccm I thought about picking up as he was an 88 ovr. However, in my 4-3 he would drop down to a 76 so I figured based on his age and my free agent acqusitions it wasn't worth it.
My player ratings did take a hit since I changed all the positional schemes to reflect 3-4 desires. Cam Wake had dropped from 97 to 81 as a DE. A lot of my DE took a big hit except for Odrick who went up. Soliai went up as a NT.

I hate how you can't change play books either. I'm running Arizona's offence and plan on running Pitt's defence but will try out a few 3-4 teams.

And I assume that you must still practise in a 4-3 even though you are playing a 3-4. My understanding is that the only way you can change this is it you retire and take over a new coach or make a new coach then you can reset your playbooks. Silly!

I was just checking my season three schedule. The schedule looks fine with regards to teams played. However, one major concern is that I have a FIVE GAME HOME-STAND. That's a little too long for my liking. With regards to salary cap I know some people have had issues but I have not seen it. In fact I seem to have too much cap space as the cap goes up really quick in this game. I would like to see the user have the ability to set cap spending in future Maddens.

I probably won't be able to start season three until Thursday night. I was looking at my roster and I don't have a lot of changes to the starting rotation. I signed Bess as y #3 receiver and I have Freeman as the potential starter at QB. My rookie DB is third on the charts at CB. I won the SB last year so it is fair to not see a lot of changes to my starters. However, my DB situation is weaker than I would like and my linebacker depth is pretty weak. I loved Cam Wake when he played for the BC Lions and I may see if I can swing a trade with Miami but I suspect the asking price will be astronomical. Next offseason I am going to make a major play for Revis as he will be an FA.

Something on my mind of late... I truly hate that we cannot play/watch other games. On twitter they are always talking about Tennessee's qb, Daniel Romeo. I have never seen him play and the Raiders aren't due to play the Titans anytime soon for their schedule rotation (in ccm anyways). Watching/playing other games on the schedule really needs to make a return for Madden 14.

I think the option for controlling the cap as well as scouting points would be good. I think the cap is too easy to manage as well. The CPU overpays in spots it doesn't need and doesn't fill glaring holes properly. EA really needs to increase the salaries of the mid tier players. Guys rated around 80 are decent starters and yet only command salaries around $1.5 mil a year. Those are the classic guys NFL teams overpay for in FA. They should cost at least double and then we would struggle to fill spots and depth while staying under the cap.

Started season three tonight a few things annoyed me right off the bat.

    1. 13 players are on a cold streak Before the game... it's game 1 of preseason???
    2. Sims says at the start that I am on a three game winning streak
    3. David Garrard is the starter for Jacksonville... again
    4. Jacksonville is a 73 ovr... most teams really seem to regress.
    5. no commentary about me winning the SB last year...??? really???

Game one of the preseason... big win 30-13 versus the Jags. Some of my players are making cut day tough. I lost two of my players for 6 weeks each. Not sure what t do about it right now. I decided to cut some big contracts and took a beating with the cap penalty (2.6 million this season...)

Just lost Tommy Kelly for 29 weeks... ouch! I am trying to unload Pryor and Goodson but can't find any interested parties.

My first chance to play this week and in my season opener against the Pats I'm winning 28-17 at the half and AJ Green has 8 catches for 330 yards and 4 TDs. I didn't start with the ball either. I think this may be my last game unless I start messing with the CPU defensive play books. They need to play much more man and not the same zone coverage calls over and over. There are too many glaring holes in between safeties and CBs and soft coverage on curls. It's rare to be confused any more.

I'm getting in the baseball mood a bit. I may start an NBA2K13 season with the Pistons too. Not sure but I think I will just be reading about your CCM Jaymo from now on. I was using the SF 3-4 play book and my lack of pass rushers is very obvious. We'll see but I don't think I will play much more.

Edit: New England did a better job on defence in the second half as AJ Green finished with 14 catches for 385 yards and 5 TDs. He dropped a 6th TD. If I continue to play I think I have to use house rules of no passing game audibles or hot routes.

Wow! I don't think I have ever had that many catches. I am primarily a run first player. My playbook (Tom Landry) doesn't have lot of passing so my pass yards are not amazing by any stretch.

Another bug/glitch... (insert scream here...) Tonight I am playing exhibition game number three and at the start of the fourth quarter the game freezes but it was weird. All the action still occured except that I could not change plays or go to the start menu, etc. I kept taking delay of game penalties until I finally shut things down. How many glitches exist in this game???

Too many glitches! The game was rushed and incomplete. I will give them credit for trying to cram in changes. They didn't play it safe like the NCAA team whose only innovation this gen has been online dynasty. The PS2 NCAA team had a lot of unique features and plays. They didn't just pack it in and take Madden's table scraps.

On a different note, Madden has almost 1 million careers created. Are those only online ones?

I guess winning changes everything. Upon a second look at my schedule I have 8 primetime games this season.

Played a fun game against the Chargers and won 28-20. Never used a single hot route and it makes the game a lot better. I was feeling dirty and cheap for using them to get AJ Green the ball easier and the defensive AI just can't match up. So my other WR Javon got 5 balls in this game while AJ still had 9 for over 100 and 1 TD. My running game was huge as Lamar Miller ripped off two long runs.

This game was a blood bath. We each lost three players to decent injuries. Winslow is still sitting on my IR at $9 million to my cap and he had the nerve to ask for a new contract this week! Are you freaking kidding me! Negotiated ended! Jake Long was hurt in the preseason sim but the others were all hurt in this game. I had quite a few more leave for short periods of time. The one good thing is that while Nick Perry had been virtually invisible so far, his rookie backup came in and had a sack and another pressure in this game. He may never get his job back. Soliai's backup is my rookie 332 pound slob who I like. He's big and strong although his block shedding needs work.

The challenge system isn't perfect. I've always felt the ball spots at the end of runs were occassionally bad but this sideline judgment was poor as well. I challenged the play claiming he didn't get his foot in bounds. Of course the commentary thought I was challenging to see if he actually caught the ball but this pic shows he was out! I lost my challenge and TO!

I can't seem to find where I check my player's personal scheme and type. The injury report shows Reshad Jones as a prototype and I think I have my SS set to run support so it hurts his rating a bit. I'd like to check my DL tendencies as well but can't seem to find it.

Speaking of challenges, the whole Madden system is trash. I loved how 2k let you decide what you were challening. Madden challenges are pointless as boundary physics are irrelevant (or non-existent...). You catch a pass with one foot out of bounds yet after a challengw it's still rled a catch. Then the wrong commentary plays afterwards. Silly!

Is it in the trade screen or the team needs screen? I can't remember myself but I don't dare turn off Mighty Machines right now and try to find out. The kids will proclaim revolution.

Game 1 in the books... Oakland 38 New England 13. Total domination by me in the second half. I outgained them in yardage 412 to 235. Billick is the NE coach now and NE ran the ball over and over while Brady only threw it 20 times (11 for 20 for 221 yards and 1 td). McFadden had a big day with 27 carries for 147 yards but the big story.... I finally have a QB!!! Freeman was 15-22 for 267 yards, 4td's and 1 int.

Next up is a road visit to the 1-0 Saints.

I finally lost. It appeared to be beat down as I was down 24-0 at the half and they got the ball. I had thrown three picks in the first half. Second half not much better as I was down 34-7 going into the 4th and I lost AJ Green for 6 weeks with a back injury. But a lot of hurry up and some better defence had me pulling within 34-28 and I got the ball back late! Got down to their 15 but my last pass went incomplete in the end zone.

Young Sam Farris went 39-61 for over 350 and 3 TD but 4 INTs.

Playing game two versus the Saints and my pass offense looks good but I am really struggling with the run game. It's really cool to see your rookies developing in this game. My returner Senat is having a monster game in the return department and my first round cb has a pick six thus far...
