When you have to tap them multiple times in a quick period of time or have to hold them in, your finger WILL slip. That's why it's such a poor design. They need to be concave instead of convex like the current design.

I wish I could find one of my old PS2 controllers to see if they were the same way. I'm pretty sure they were different.

I don't recall them being significantly different. I do agree though, I've had my fingers slip more than once.

PS2 controllers never had triggers guys iirc. The shoulder buttons were identical from what I remember - just two sets of them. This gen was the first to distinguish between the two sets of shoulder buttons.

I've never had a problem with the PS3 controller and have always preferred it to the XBox controller my brother has although having been a PS1, PS2 and PS3 guy the continuity is a big factor. I'm also not a big shooter guy. The only shooter type of games I have played are the Uncharted series.

That's what my memory is too, but then I Googled Dual Shock 2 and got a bunch of results that looked halfway between a shoulder button and trigger.

Ha, I have no idea, but I've had the hatred towards the triggers since I very first tried them. Bought the Real Triggers a few years ago and never looked back. Even trying it out now without the Real Triggers makes me cringe.

The 360 controller doesn't have that problem because it's concave BUT they also have a much more solid feeling when pushed in. I think the triggers on the DS3 are too mushy on top of being convex. I just really don't like it. Like I said, though, a little $3 attachment completely fixes both issues I have with the triggers.

I know they look kind of weird, but they make a massive difference.

Do you guys not use your middle fingers for those triggers? I'm just failing to understand why you need something that looks so god awful on a controller and why the majority of people hate the controller for some reason.

    Nope, use my index fingers.

Same. I think they suck with the index or the middle finger. There's just really no excuse for having a convex shape on the trigger. I don't hate the controller, just the triggers.

I don't hate the triggers by any means (nor do I think any majority feels that strongly) but I've had my fingers slip a few times so I know what the problem is. I think it is caused by hitting low enough on the trigger (in an effort to be fast) that you don't get the grip you need. I've had my fingers slip on the r-stick while kicking, but I still prefer it to the 360.

Has any one heard about Sony rumor of going with a touch pad deal like the Wii U has for ps4?Read on another site they might go that rout. That would suck for a ps.

Look on the previous page, Gator, it was mentioned there. We digressed into talking about triggers.

    Triggers, triggers, triggers.

Seriously though, I'd be pretty surprised if we saw a touch screen type thing for Sony. Why? Well first of all, out of all 3 major hardware companies, Sony is the one that's most interested in core games. Those types of games are best played with a regular controller, so I really can't see Sony abandoning it. Secondly, I'm pretty sure Vita/PS4 integration is going to be a huge play for Sony come next generation, and introducing a touch screen type of device would only hurt that plan. I do think we'll see a lot more experiences where you use your Vita as the controller, though. As they said when Nintendo was touting the Wii U controller, it's nothing the Vita couldn't potentially do.

I disagree. How would adding a touch screen hurt anything? The Wii U controller is also a dedicated gaming controller. It has a d-pad, two analog sticks, four face buttons, two shoulders and two triggers. The placement of the buttons under the r-stick is different but it has every button combination of a dual shock plus a touch screen. I really do think that is the future of controllers. A lot of potential there.

The Vita cross play is not really a good option because the Vita isn't owned by a lot of people. Add ons never work that great. If they packaged a Vita AS the controller on the next gen system that could be a really cool idea but without that I don't see it. Having played my nephews Vita I don't care that much for those analog sticks either. It's a decent idea but I think they would have to redesign the Vita a little to make it happen.

I just don't see it catching on with the core crowd. I'd gamble to say that shooters are by far the most popular genre of games, and while I haven't tried the Wii U(never will...if it has Nintendo on it, I want nothing to do with it), it APPEARS to me that it would be a pain to use with shooters because the size of the thing would reduce the speed in which you can access all of the functions. The same problem exists with the Vita. Because everything is so spaced out because of the screen(and because of how flat the damn thing is), it's impossible to reach everything as quickly.

IF they could manage to find a way to keep the shape of the 360/PS3 controller and stick a smaller touch screen in, then I would be fine with that and I think that would catch on. However, I don't see that giant thing the Wii U uses ever being the go to controller type for Microsoft or Sony.

But yeah, the Vita's sticks are horrible. You'll get no argument from me there.

I just must be the only one who doesn't have a problem with either Sony or MS's controllers
