Most coaches don't really care about promises and such, but that would have looked really bad if he went to the NFL.

FIU hires Ron Turner. He last coached Illinois where he went 35-57 and was fired in 2004. Granted, he has been bouncing around in the pros (OC, position coach) since, but they basically pulled him out of the mothballs. They should have kept Cristobal.

You have to wonder if they secretly had some knowledge that Davis was interested in coaching for them. But that deal got torpedoed by UNC.

Guess he won't have to move very far.

I have no idea why anyone would leave a job like Oregon or USC or LSU to go to the NFL (barring something like sanctions). The bar is so high and the leash is so short and you can't stack players like you can in college.

its the same dream that the players have. being in the nfl is the ultimate goal, whether its coaching or playing. only the rare breeds choose to stay in college despite being given nfl offers year after year.

Any thoughts on Kliff Kingsberry at ttu? Do you think he'll run a similar offense to what we saw at Houston and A&M? or Will it be pure AIR IT OUT AIRRAID? He did set all sorts of passing records at ttu while playing there. I like the guy, even if he beat us when he was there playing. I might even cheer for the red raiders now.

On a side note is it very strange, my parents live in Lubbock and they were telling me something about Tommy Tuberville's wife had a car accident a while back, she supposedly accidentally killed someone in a car wreck. My parents said the REALLY strange thing is, it was all over the local news and then BOOM it's like it never happened. VERY VERY Strange.

I found this on it: http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefoot...ccident-022312

Anyways, it will be interesting to see how KK does at ttu.

I think Kliff's offense will be right along the lines of what we saw at Houston and A&M. The line between what Sumlin did at Houston and what Leach did at Texas Tech is pretty thin anyway. Both are extremely similar, just a slight difference in how they call the game. The actual playbook (though I don't think Sumlin had a physical playbook) is probably very similar.
