Damn. Now I do remember getting games on PS1, PS2 and Xbox for only $40 and then $50 a few years later. But I didn't remember those kind of prices back then. Damn.
I paid $50 for Super Mario Brothers 3 back in the day so it was definitely the case.
It sounds like, from reading the comment in that forum, that prices went down to ~$40 for the PS1 (due to use of CDs), then ~$50 for PS2. Inflation could easily be attributed for the change. That does sound vaguely familiar.
