Some of it is lazy writing to try to get anyone to side with the Railroad. If you look at the trophy stats the Railroad was the least finished faction. The only redeeming part of the Railroad is Tinker Tom gives you Ballistic Weave armor that is some of the best in the game but you can get it well before you have to side with the Railroad.

    Spoiler: show
Danse being a synth is trying to get you to feel something for synths. Then you have Nick Valentine the gumshoe synth, loved by Diamond City because he saved the previous mayors daughter.

I really need to get around to buying this.

At this point you should probably wait for the GOTY version and get everything for $59.99. Especially since the DLC is now $50, up from $30.

I already picked up the season pass separately on the very last day when it was still $30. Just waiting for a good sale on the main game now.

Amazon has some descent deals. The one advantage to the XB1 version is you get access to the Creation Kit/Mods a month earlier. In fact it will be in Beta for XB1 by the end of the month.

    $34.99 for XB1

    $29.49 for PS4

Nice! I didn't realize Amazon had it that low. I was hoping MS would put it on sale digitally, but for that price, hell, I'll go with physical.

Edit - And order placed! Fallout 4 will be here by no later than 8pm tomorrow!

Congrats! Soon this will make sense.

Say goodbye to your life lol I'm almost done with the Division until a big update so it'll be back to this for me. I was to the point where I decide between the two factions after a lot of messing around.

Then after the story, I'll do survival mode!

Alright, game just arrived about a half hour ago. Got it installing right now while I finish up some yard work.

What should I focus on when I dive into the game? What should be my primary concern early on? What should I focus on in regards to SPECIAL?

Can I just kill that prick Preston as soon as I meet him?

Do what you want. That's the beauty of it. I always focus on strength so I can carry more and eventually be able to fast travel while over-encumbered.

Pretty much this. Though I usually go it alone as companions are a PITA. So instead of wasting points on strength, just add the to Lone Wanderer perk, assuming you decide to go solo. You will be able to carry far more stuff quicker with the addition of taking less damage. * Bear in mind there are some quests that force you to use a companion and for these segments you lose the perk, so you need to put a couple points in the toughness perk. If you plan to shoot, instead of melee, never go higher than 3 points in Strength to begin with. This gives you enough to be able to access the Armorer perk to improve combat and power armor.

I will give one bit of advice that I wish I knew on my first run because finding adhesive is a bitch, not to mention adhesive is required to make most modifications. As soon as you can build water purifiers in Sanctuary City do so. The bigger the better. These will help you make a lot of caps quick as you will get an amount of purifies water in your workbench ever day or so. Make sure and store some of the water, then find and plant as much Corn, Mutfruit and Tato as you can. Combine these with Purified water and you can use the stove to make Vegetable Starch, which is an adhesive.

You can't kill Preston or any of his crew outside of Mama Murphy. To be honest these two will be the ones you are least likely you would want to kill out of the group.

Well my favourite aspect of the game is building settlements. I really spent the most time exploring and building and try to fight as little as possible. The story is good but you don't need to rush through it as the replay value drops after the main story is finished.

    Early Far Harbor Impressions:

Very minor spoilers but I will hide them for those not wishing to have anything spoiled.

    Pros:

    Love the atmosphere early on.
Only completed two quests and one was a pretty kick ass misc quest.
    Spoiler: show
It leads you to a vault and a robot murder mystery.

Big map, of course we already knew that.
A few new perks levels added. Lone Wanderer now has a 4th perk for example.
There are three or four new settlements, I have not seen them yet but was mentioned on another site, plus there is a trophy for unlocking 3 workbenches.

    Cons:

Runs at about 15fps. Who the heck tested and approved this shit Sony? It is not unplayable but apparently all the fog bogs down the poor PS4. When they force a companion on you it does feel like a slide show at times.
    The two new guns,
    Spoiler: show
Harpoon and Lever Action Rifle are okay. Both do descent damage but the harpoon spears are not plentiful, same for the Lever Action Rifle. It uses a 45-70 bullet. It's like the hunting rifle with a slow as shit reload. Also Arturo was not selling either of these ammo types so it may be limited to Far Harbor.

    WTF:

    Spoiler: show
You can have sex with a robobrain.

Would be amazing if not for the framerate. Still fun but hard on the eyes.

Once I get the plat in The Division, gonna go back to finish this and do the DLC. Would you say Far Harbor is almost two of the Bethesda DLC's in on package with its scope?

I think Bethesda said that it is the biggest DLC Land Mass they have ever made. Larger than Shivering Isles but there are less things to do on the map. Will play some more tonight and see how much there is to do. People that got it early say there is at least 20 hours worth of content, maybe more for those like me who like to explore ever nook and cranny.

If you have not done the Automatron DLC, it has a little beef to it and the last section is pretty lengthy.

Heard it is very glitchy with a lot of bugs. You seeing that to Bdoughty?

  19. #419
Nope and I have played almost 10 hours so far and hit 90%+ of the locations (many unexplored but wanted to see just how much was out there). The framerate is crap but I already covered that. It almost helps me when shooting (non-VATS) as it slows my aim movement down. There is an animation bug with the lever rifle that forces you to reload 5 bullets, even if there are still bullets. No biggie as it is not that great of a gun.

Now this is not a spoiler but a warning in advance. There is a tower defense/puzzle mini-game. I repeat a tower defense/puzzle mini-game. Ugh, this I actually despise as you are forced into 5 tedious levels of getting code from one area to another. Each more tedious than the next. Outside of that it has been just fine. Oh and I ran across a RAD Chicken and it was dare I say, radical? Then I shot it.

On the building front, there is only one settlement that I am going to spend any time on as it is really open and partially on a beach. There is another one that has a ton of resources. Wood and concrete out the ying-yang. Also you can run supply routes to Far Harbor. A bunch of new items to create with the DLC. You can build barns and a bunch of other stuff I have yet to mess with.

It's so weird how I lived on VATS on all past Fallout games but this one. I guess due to the better gun gameplay?
