I watched about 1 hour of a guy streaming this last night. I still can't believe twitch didn't shut the stream down! I don't play this series so take this comment with a grain of salt but I honestly would have thought it was Fallout 3 had the load screen not said Fallout 4. With all the hype I just figured this game would look/feel entirely different.

Not to say it won't be a good game because I am sure it will. I just don't know how the game will live up to the hype...

Yeah a review leaked early was not positive. Going to watch Greg Miller stream the game tomorrow morning before deciding whether to put this on my Christmas list or not

Yeah I also read that review. I thought it was interesting that he referred to the game as a less interesting version of Dragon Quest: Inquisition.

Based on the reviews he seemed to say...
    Spoiler: show
the story is boring; the pacing is too slow; the side missions don't connect to the game; it is very difficult; no reason for newbs to the story to buy the game

On the positive side he did say the graphics were spot on and people who love the series will love this game.

Here is the reality. Fallout fans are going to buy and love Fallout 4 in droves.

I saw the leaked review and it read like someone clueless to the Fallout series. He spent the first 5-10 hours not trying to get killed by mole rats? He probably shit his pants when he ran into a Deathclaw.

I am hoping for Tuesday but Amazon shipped my order UPS Ground with a reschedule to get it here on time. Half the time they do this it ends up arriving on Wed. Of course on the bright side, every time they screw up I get a free month of Amazon Prime.

So the consensus is that it's a bad game then...

Terrible. If you spend a whole review trying to compare it to Dragon Age while dying over and over to a radroach.

Looks pretty good to me watching Kinda Funny's stream - only concern for me is how easy is it to just lock it into 3rd person to avoid

Woohoo... my rig is built well enough to run Fallout 4 on Ultra settings at 1080p. The game plays very smooth!

    Here's a couple non-spoiler screenshots I took.

Without spending very much time, here's how my character looks:
    Spoiler: show

And here's a quick screenshot out in the open:
    Spoiler: show

Let me know if you want me to continue posting any screenshots tomorrow or not.

Wow, looks like a drunk Ben Affleck from the 50's.

Is it running at 60fps on Ultra? If so I very much dislike you.

Looks like I timed my GameFly return of GTA V perfectly. Hadn't played it in months so figured wtf maybe I'll get FO4 - so I'll be joining you guys in a day or 2.

I need 2 tips - #1 how do i get/keep the camera in 3rd person as much as possible to avoid

#2 this world looks huge and there is virtually zero direction the game gives you on what to do 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.... - any tips on how to go about tackling the missions/quests.

The game is going to give missions/side missions to keep you in an area relatively safe to your level. It follows the same mentality as the past two Fallout games or most every Bethesda game ever created. If you see a danger sign early on, they tend to mean it.

So if you see something like this...

Back the heck up. They are not kidding.

Yeah my main worry is dieing a ton and not knowing if its bc i suck or bc i'm trying to do something i just cant yet. i'm just so.... used/comfortable with linear story mode games and I'm normally not an open world guy but this game seems really interesting and with 3rd person i figure i'll give it a rental try and then add it to the xmas list if i like it.
