    Week 14: #5 (9-1) (7-0) @ (5-5) (4-3)

UNLV travels to one of the most picturesque locales in college football. With the win over SDSU, UNLV has already wrapped up the West Division. However, UNLV is pushing hard for a BCS birth. QB Morris, expected to play today but his nagging injury will keep him out another week. Wyoming has a soft offense but their D looks to be strong against the pass. It's a beautiful day for football...

Wyoming wins the toss and elects to kick. The wind is strong today and the ball goes through the endzone. UNLV moves the ball well and chews the clock... until Lexman throws an int at the Wyoming 16. Wyoming's drive is relatively short and UNLV gets it back at their own 26. However Wyoming has come to play and they force a 3 and out. Wyoming takes over at their own 48.

With 30 seconds left in the 1st, Wyoming hits a 33 yard fg to take the lead, 3-0. To start the 4th, on 4th and inches, Wyoming's D comes up with a stop (you ever get that feeling like cpu isn't going to lose???). Next play from scrimmage Wyoming's RB runs a sweep toss for 32 yards (untouched) to the endzone and it's 10-0 Wyoming.

8 plays and 73 yards later UNLV storms down the field and ends the drive with a 4 yard TD strike to WR Samuel. That makes it 10-7 Wyoming with 4:38 left in the 2nd.

ON Wyoming's next drive they march the entire field with pass after pass (and blown coverages all about) and hit a TD strike of 32 yards to make it 17-7. What a joke!

UNLV's next series is a 3 and out, consisting of two dropped passes and a 4 yard rush loss. Wyoming starts at their own 21 with 1:44 left and a 17-3 lead.

Finally a breakthrough as CB Harris comes up with a pic at the UNLV 48 and runs it up to the Wyoming 41. Next play a 9 yard loss on a sack. The next play Jalaal comes up with a 39 yard reception to get in the redzone and then like clock work the next play is a 9 yard loss. However, UNLV continues to push forward and on the next play WR Lowery makes an outstanding catch at the endzone. That makes it 17-14 Wyoming with 11 seconds left in the half.

With 11 seconds left the Cowboys get all the way to to UNLV 34 but then they run out of time. This is crazy! Wyoming is punching well above their weight!!! 152 yards passing and 66 yards rushing for Wyoming in the 1st. Ugly D play by UNLV needs to be fixed asap.

After coach Jaymo lit up the D at halftime they come out ready to play and force a 3 and out. However, on the punt Jalaal (the guy who holds onto everything) fumbles and Wyoming takes over at the Wyo 48. However, the UNLV stays fierce and forces another 3 and out.

UNLV starts at their own 20 and finally puts together a complete drive ending with FB Robert Taylor punching it in from the 2. UNLV takes the lead 21-17 with 3:08 left in the 3rd.

UNLV's D hold strong again and forces another 3 and out. UNLV's next possession they drive the field again and FB Richardson punches it in from the 2 to make it 28-17 UNLV with 7:01 remaining in the 4th. Wyoming has put everything in to stop the run that the pass game is opening up across the middle.

With 4:22 left Wyoming hits a 32 yard FG to make the score 28-20 UNLV. The next UNLV drive starts at the 33. However, shockingly, TE Mario Green is hit and fumbles. Wyming takes over 35 yards away from the endzone. That is now 3 turnovers this game. 4 plays later Wyoming punches it in from the 1 and that makes it 28-26. Wyoming goes for 2. However, the UNLV Dline makes a huge play and records a sack to keep the score 28-26 UNLV with 2:48 remaining.

UNLV tries to move the ball but cannot convert and punts the ball back to Wyoming with 1:11 left. Wyoming is out of timeouts. UNLV's D shuts the door and on 4th and 10, the Dline brings down the Wyoming QB and ensures the victory.

Wow! 10 straight win aside, UNLV escapes this game and pulls out the win. Wow!

    Lexman 24/30 284 yards 2TD 1int.
    Coker 20 carries 66 yards
    Lowery 5 rec 74 yards 1TD

I hate playing Wyoming. Those bastards are always a tough team. Especially for me with Utah State and Wyoming being rivals.

Wyoming is a far weaker team than UNLV. However, they play us pretty tough every game. Going to their field is never a sure win.I really thought that after the first half we were going to lose this game. Their QB pass was awesome but they had a few key drops, including one in the endzone which took points off the board. They were recruiting 3 4 stars for this game. If they land them they will be a much tougher out next year.

Yup, the trees just make it look spectacular. Now if only we could do something about all the brown in their jerseys.

wraps up the season at home with a game against This SJSU squad is always a very tough game. The key to victory:

    1. Run the ball!
    * Coker et. al. need to control the ball and the clock
** Coker is on the verge of 1,000 yards... he wants it this game
    2. Stingy high pressure D.
    * get in the face of the QB and don't let him set up the pass
    3. Home field advantage.

QB Morris is expected to play this game as his injury should be behind him. However, Lexman will see some action for sure. His play has earned him that right.
    * Sam Boyd has become a fierce place to play. SJSU needs to fear the fans and the noise

    Week 15: (4-7) (4-4) @ #4 (10-1) (8-0)

UNLV ends the regular season against a gritty SJSU squad. UNLV is on a 10 game win streak and the scare vs. Wyoming last week means the Rebels will NOT take this game lightly.

For the 2nd straight week, QB Morris will NOT be in the lineup and that means that Abe Lexman will be running the offense.

UNLV wins the toss and elects to kickoff. SJSU starts at their own 20. Their first drive barely gets to midfield but no further. UNLV 's first possession is long and 12 plays and 71 yards later results in a Coker rushing TD from the 1 (and on 4th down). That makes it 7-0 UNLV with 1:55 left in the first quarter.

SJSU moves the ball well on their next possession. As the 2nd strikes they are approaching the redzone. SJSU ends the drive with a 44 yard FG and that makes it 7-3 UNLV with 7:23 left in the 2nd. UNLV has a 3 and out and quickly SJSU's offense is back on the field.

On the next series SJSU takes the lead with a 47 yard TD strike. Considering SJSU's offense is subpar their O line is playing amazing! 10-7 SJSU. UNLV takes the ball and quickly gets down to the SJSU 13... except for pass interference is called (it was called on my LG... I have never seen that before... ????????????????). However, a handful of playd later Lexman hits R Samuel for the TD and that makes it 14-10 UNLV with 1:57 left in the half.

With 24 seconds left, safety Yusef Butler comes up with an int. He runs it back to theSJSU 47. UNLV brings out the hurry up package. UNLV gets into scoring range but for some reason the clock doesn't stop (even though Samuel had a first down reception and went out of bounds.... soooooooo frustrating!!!

Anyways, the half comes to an end with the score remaining 14-10 UNLV. I'm not sure why but the penalties are non-stop this game versus UNLV. (over 70 yards against...)

On the first drive of the 3rd, UNLV goes down the fiel and 3rd string RB Smith takes it in from the 2. That puts UNLV up 21-10 with 3:06 left in the 3rd.

On SJSU's next play CB Harris makes a pic six from the SJSU 20 and just like that it's 28-10 UNLV. Wow! However, SJSU comes out on the next drive and goes 80 yards for the TD. They dominated through the air. That makes it 28-17 UNLV with 1:01 left in the 3rd.

With 5:26 left in the 4th, the developers at Tiburon make an interception at the 3 of SJSU (because nobody could defy physics like that!!! over the shoulder, not looking and moving in the other direction....

With 4:56 remaining, UNLV now has 8 penalties for over 100 yards. I don't think UNLV has had 8 penalties all season!

A few plays later, LB Amir Green causes a fumble and UNLV starts at the SJSU 33. Winslow ends the drive with a 33 yard FG and a 31-17 lead with 2:25 left in the game.

SJSU's next drive ends with an interception by CB Simon and UNLV takes over at the SJSU 41. Lexman tries to put the game in his hands and impress the recruits and he ends up throwing an int. SJSU starts at the UNLV 20 (1:57 remaining). However, CB Simon makes back-to-back pics and no damage is done.

The final score... UNLV 31 SJSU 17.

Daniel Simon had 3 tackles and 2 int. and was player of the game.

    Lexman 18/24 254 yards 1TD 2 int.
    Coker 23 rushes 103 yards 1 TD
    Jalaal 5 rec 118 yards

Update: with RB Frank Coker's rushing performance last game, he ended the regular season with 1066 yards rushing. That makes him the first RB to have a 1,000 rushing season for Coach Jaymo's UNLV programme.

Well, based on the MWC Championship game, I think so. Ohio State is the unanimous choice right now but we will see how it all shakes down.

Dear god, how bad was the Mountain Division? 5-7 (5-4) is good enough to make the CCG? Holy crap.

How about UL-Monroe being 9-2 and ranked #5?

It would depend on the rest of the top 10 records. Are all of the rest of the teams behind Texas 2+ loss teams (aka all undefeated and one loss teams already in the top 5) or are they getting a more generous than they deserve ranking?
