I don't think it's just you. There has definitely been a switch in the writing and directing. Almost to me it's gone down hill after they left the prison. The Tornado scene was probably the most ridiculous moment on the show hands down.

This new threat should be interesting and how in the world does he know Rick?

Definitely interesting questions for the new guy. He sure is pretty clean cut compared to the gang.

I wasn't as critical on the show as you guys were, but oh well. I thought it did a good job to show the group is really struggling mentally and physically. Maybe the tornado or storm scene was over the top, but it was a pretty cool scene seeing the whole group band together to show they want to live and hold off the herd.
Spoiler: show
Following Maggie's statement(s) on losing her faith, I wonder if the tornado scene was designed to either a) show a miracle that helped save them or b) show that working together they can survive almost anything.

Either way, visually it was a cool scene but they didn't do a good job of tying it to either point. Living in an area that has strong tornadoes, I laughed at how many trees uprooted but that old barn stood strong. Not a big deal overall I suppose, but it only feeds into my sneaking suspicion that the show lacks any idea of a potential end-game or even coherent story development. I enjoy watching TWD, but it's changed a lot (especially lately) and overall I'd say a lot isn't for the better. Though, I'm holding out hope for the rest of this season to help correct the ship.

I assumed at first that the water was possibly a gift from Morgan, but maybe this guy is from Morgan's group - either with him at one time or the one he was pursuing (looking for markings on the trees). If he is from the comics, I hope they use some of the plot from the comics, not what they did with Tyreese.
