Hmm... I played it for 2.5 hours and didn't get much out of it I suppose. I tried to read up on it and all I could find was that you could build up your town so that others would come live there. I never knew you were supposed to kill any enemies, I just thought they were there as a challenge.

IOU (or anyone else), did you ever get the SSD you were planning to get? I see the prices continue to drop making me tempted. Right now my primary drive I've got down to 55GB used so I easily could work with 128GB which I see can be had for as low as $80. Is it worth it solely for the boot-up and program launch?

Alternatively, I've recently discovered that my motherboard is only a SATA II... so any input from anyone on whether better to upgrade my motherboard or to SSD?

Nevermind, I found my answer regarding SATA2 vs SATA3... apparently spinner drives don't fully utilize SATA2 so they don't even come close to hitting SATA3. SATA3 is specifically designed for SSDs though obviously is backwards compatible both ways.

Haven't got mine yet. I've had one in my Amazon wish list for about a month and it just keeps dropping in price, so I figured I'd wait it out and try to get the best price. Although seeing the one you linked to, I'm tempted to get it. $80 is a great deal. I might just have to go ahead and get that one to use as my main drive and then just get one of those 2TB Western Digital My Book external drives for storing Steam games/music.

Finally found a game that I couldn't run on Ultra settings. Sleeping Dogs. I was getting about 15 FPS on Ultra, but damn does that game look good. Plays fine on High thankfully.

Apparently Saints Row The Third is supposed to be under $10 tomorrow on GMG.

Black Mesa came out today and by my count, about 30 seconds after it was up for download the entire site went down.

I think I'm just going to wait until it releases on Steam.

I'll get it sometime next week. Hopefully Monday so that it can be a distraction while I wait for Borderlands 2. Otherwise it may be awhile before I can pick it up.

    Homefront for $3.75

I know all indications are that it's not very good but I figure can't go wrong for $3.75.

The campaign(as long as you excuse your idiot AI team members) is fantastic. The story is great and it's paced extremely well. There was no repetitiveness in it at all. As far as campaigns go, Homefront and Spec Ops The Line are by far the best I've played. For under $4, I highly recommend it.

I wasn't a huge fan of the multiplayer, but even it was relatively entertaining for a few weeks. I'm not really sure why it got bad reviews.

Good game... Very cpu intensive though.

I played a few hours of Black Mesa last night... very well done. It's not a 1:1 remake, they make some tweaks here & there, but that said, the overall feeling is certainly the same. I made it to the point where the marines show up.

LOL I read this too late. My CPU can't quite handle it. 3.00 wasted for now, until I finish my build that has been going on for about a year.

I can play it on high at about 45FPS. I put it on Ultra and I can see my PC just starting to melt.

    Thoughts on Humble Bundle 6?

Pay what you want for Torchlight, Shatter, Rochard, Vessel, and Space Pirates and Zombies. If you choose to pay more than the average price, you will also receive Dustforce! And many of the games come with a breathtaking soundtrack!

Each of these DRM-free games work on Mac, Windows, and Linux, and can optionally be redeemed on Steam (if you purchase for $1 or more). For Linux users, you also have the option to redeem through the Ubuntu Software Centre. Please note that the finishing touches for Vessel's Mac and Linux debut are still being completed and it should be ready in 24-72 hours.
I know Torchlight and Shatter are solid games.

I'm pretty sure the installer alone would make my PC melt

It's like $6... I just buy it, unless it has nothing I'm even remotely interested in. This time, everything but Torchlight was semi-interesting so I bought it, for $5.94. Can't beat that.

Not sure what I'm missing but 1TB SSD (albeit PCI-E) for $200? Ummm... tell me why I should hold off?

Only thing I've found is that it's not guaranteed that it would work as a bootable drive depending on your motherboard but even if not, it would be beautiful with a 60GB boot SSD and use this as primary storage. Thoughts?

*Edit... nevermind, it's actually a hybrid PCI-E drive. It uses 100GB flash for cache and a spinner for the actual storage.

    SSD Deals

I finally made the jump picking up the 90GB Vertex 3. If you make the jump, after reading, you want to go SATA3 even if your motherboard is SATA2. #1 for future upgrade but #2 you still get a higher bump with SATA3.
