Decided to take the plunge and got a Vita.

I got the Madden Bundle, and if you add MLB 12: The Show and a 4GB memory card, both the Show and memory card are free. So basically I got Madden, The Show, and a memory card free.

    It'll be here Tuesday

Nice. I'm personally staying away from Madden Vita. Most of the reviews I've read weren't good. But since you're basically getting it for free, why the hell not?

I'm going to give you some motivation, though. It sucks holding the thing. It is borderline agonizingly annoying at first. Then you add in the worst analog sticks the world has ever seen. Just stick with it, you'll get used to it.

Highly recommend Resistance: Burning Skies by the way. Fun, fun, fun game.

Yeah comfort is my biggest worry as the PSP wasn't. But I'll stick with this more because it's more trophies to whore plus I already have a half dozen PSN games that I have Vita vouchers for as well....

I've got one, plus I got the access through PS Plus. Can't play it anyway, though.

So if someone else wants a key, PM me.

Breaking news: anonymous reviews at web site lead to bashing of every game company. A certain website has linked to that article, calling out Tiburon's reviews ........ but it doesn't look to me like anyone is unscathed.

Except Valve. Valve is God. (Apparently because there are only two reviews for Valve )

Also, it's extremely amusing to me how many of the companies pay "below industry standard". I think every employee of every company in the world thinks his company pays below the average.

EA plans to cut 1,000 jobs, close at least nine offices

The struggling economy is finally hitting the video game industry, and hard. EA is preparing to undertake some rather drastic cost-cutting measures, including laying off 1,000 workers. That number represents 10 percent of its total employees, a large enough chunk that several titles and franchises will be getting the ax as well. To further slash costs, EA will be closing at least nine facilities across the globe and condense its teams into fewer offices. Most of the specifics have not been released, but we do know that Black Box Studio (responsible for the Need for Speed series) will move from Vancouver to a location in Burnaby, British Columbia. All told EA expects to save about $120 million a year thanks to the layoffs and closings, but how much that will actually helps its bottom line remains to be seen.

EA's stock has been AWFUL this year despite the gains by the market as a whole.

Story has been rescinded. It was an old report from 2008. Black Box was moved from Vancouver to Brunby in 2008. http://www.engadget.com/2012/09/13/e...ut-1-000-jobs/

Correction: We regret any confusion caused by this story. It was based on old information and never should have been published. To our knowledge there are currently no plans for additional layoffs or office closures at Electronic Arts. Our sincerest apologies to our readers and EA for any trouble caused by its publication.

Just got off a chat with an Amazon rep, and unfortunately, it looks like they've done away with the $1 release date delivery option

$1 or the release date delivery option altogether? I have Amazon Prime, so the release date delivery was free for me regardless, but if I can still get guaranteed delivery on release date with the free 2-day option, I'll still be happy, though I doubt it. Probably will have to go with the $3.99 one day option for guaranteed release date delivery.

If you order in time, the 2 day is guaranteed release day as well. If you wait until the weekend before release, you'll have to go one day if you want it on release day.

    This.

But yeah I talked them into giving me $1 release day delivery for FIFA 13 via chat.

Nice. That works for me then, as I usually always have my games pre-ordered at least a month in advance.

It's not surprising if you think about it. I'm sure they were losing a TON of money on those. I'm sure they have some kind of deal with the UPS, but it costs a lot to overnight items, which is what they used to do with Release Day Delivery. While I'm sad to see it go, I wasn't surprised when they stopped offering it.

However, I've been using Amazon a lot less since they incorporated PA sales tax. I don't like that one bit.

Things Looking Worse for Defendants in Huge NCAA Player Likeness Lawsuit

An update today regarding the ongoing player likeness lawsuit against the NCAA, CLC, and Electronic Arts comes from AL.com who note some damning emails that could prove troublesome when the trial begins in 2013.

The emails discuss some developments over the years including the period of time where EA Sports and the NCAA had initially agreed to allow actual player names to be used in their college football and basketball series. That, of course, never came about but the discussion of such a deal is what matters here.

The lawsuit is the culmination of two high profile filings that were combined as led by Sam Keller and Ed O’Bannon. It alleges improper use of player likeness through various forms of merchandise and media including video games in which the parties in question conspired to avoid paying players for their rights. Some interesting details and claims regarding the case at hand were revealed when EA was reentered as a defendant after initially being dismissed.

EA has won a previous case regarding player likeness with the courts ruling video games are artistic works rather than commercial speech and therefore protected by the First Amendment. The Supreme Court last year established forms of media, producing expressive works of art, are not subject to judgments based on incorporating someone’s name or likeness.

This consolidated case in California looks as though it will be going much further and ultimately be the determining factor of how the NCAA proceeds in the future handling broadcasting rights, merchandising, and video games. Should a negative result come down, which one analyst has pegged as being a potential loss of $1 billion for EA, it would likely not just end the NCAA Football series but also with it any realistic possibility of college sports games being made in the future. The trial is set to begin on March 11, 2013.

That's where I'm lucky, still no sales tax on Amazon here in Ohio.

And yeah, it all explains now why I couldn't find or get the Release Day Delivery option for pre-orders as recently as one or two months ago.

    Color me interested.

'Midway Arcade Origins' puts classic coin-ops on Xbox and PS3

Warner Bros. Interactive is bundling its archive of Midway arcade games once again, for sale on PS3 and Xbox 360. Midway Arcade Origins is a collection of "more than 30 classic, genre-defining Midway titles from the golden age of arcades," including Gauntlet, Joust, Spy Hunter, Marble Madness, Defender, and Rampage. There's no online multiplayer, but there are new Achievements, Trophies, and leaderboards.

The Backbone-developed collection will be available this November for $30. That's less than $1 a game! Or, as far as we're concerned, it's $30 for Marble Madness's music, with a bunch of free games included.

Not for $30. It should have been a PSN game for $15.
