Major fucking layoffs today at my company. They have been 'teasing' us with it for several months making our lives hell wondering what's going to happen. Several months ago our suits mentioned that they would need to cut out $200M in salary from the home office...guess what our top 5 exec's will make this year...$150M!!!!! Fuck me! These assbags came in and spoke about 'kindness', 'integrity', and treating people 'fair and square' ...what a crock of fucking bullshit. My wife and I both work here and are both probably safe but many good, hard working people are being kicked to the curb while a few dick's sit on their mountain of money.
...I guess it's the way of the world which is just sad.

I had to live through that crap a couple years ago....and that crap lasted for two years too, walking on eggshells, etc. It blows.
i'm going through that right now deuce. i do have a work option available in which i could most certainly get on, but it'd be working 7-12 hour shifts a week for the next year. the money would probably be excellent, but i'm not sure i want to work every day for the next year. i'm debating that or go back to school for a new career.

We had 1100 people let go during that period. Management had the balls to call it "Focus To Win".
Clear Channel has downsized 4 times in the last two years. Each spring and each fall, on a every 4-6 month cycle. Yet the execs keep getting more and more money in raises, bonuses, etc every fucking year.
The "I'm talking out of my ass" reasoning for this past round of cuts a week or two ago:

Speaking of corporate America, I work for a Large Grocery chain in the south, and they just recently lifted the $.15 raise an hour maximum we have had for close to 2 years. In this time, we receive annual statements keeping us up to date on the company's performance. Each quarter, we were up around 3-7% in net profit(in the hundreds of millions), but we were still only able to get an extra $.15 an hour every 6 months, no matter what your job performance was. I actually take a pay cut each year, because they have eliminated virtually all OT, and the bonuses we receive every 3 months have gotten smaller. This is why I am now going back to school, because working at 3am every day until god knows when just to be sent home early another day so you do not get overtime, blows!
