Really, Jeff, going from watching my uncle do it from god knows what programming language (Python maybe) to making a pretty respectful reincarnation of a pretty classic Commodore 64 game in C++, I don't see how it can cost so much to port a game over, when you have the code already. He did it all by himself in about 6 months, pretty much starting from the ground up. Now, granted, it was a fairly simplistic game, but, none-the-less, he did it from the ground up trying to make as accurate of remake of the game as possible (going as far as counting pixels and such), but it seems to me that for $300,000 or so, one of these companies could hire a few programmers for 2 or 3 months and bang it out pretty damn well. Seems a bit ridiculous to me that more companies aren't doing it.
