So it looks like I'll finally be reading the Walking Dead comics. In addition to season 1 of The Walking Dead dvd that I knew I was getting for Christmas, among other things, I got surprised with The Walking Dead comics, Compendium 1, so the first 48 issues.

Kids today are very appreciative of any gift, just as long as it's a car or an Apple product.
    Spoiler: show

That too. If I had asked for a car for Christmas, my parents would have laughed their asses off at me.

I'm not ashamed to say, with how hard the economy has been on my parents and myself, I got very little for Christmas but that's fine. I don't really celebrate Christmas anyway and only do it because of my parents and my siblings. I have no need for presents during Christmas anyway because, if I want something, I'm going to buy it. That's just how I am.

First, I call bullshit on all that bitching.

Second, I'm glad my daughter got an iPhone.

Neither of my parents have gotten me any gift to speak of since I was 18 or 19. It doesn't bother me and it never has. The sum total of my gifts this year (from all sources) were probably about $50 and I could live without them (other than the picture of my daughter and the gift she made for me). The only one I buy gifts for is my daughter (she had a great Christmas). Christmas is for children. If you're over 12 to 14 and you get upset by being "slighted", you need a serious beatdown (which life will provide you soon enough).

And I completely agree man. The only thing my parents usually buy for me is necessity things, like clothes or some type of household or kitchen appliance or something like that. Christmas is DEFINITELY for kids and it's always awesome to see their eyes light up when they get something they think is awesome for Christmas.

Christmas hasn't meant anything to me (besides a chance to be with my family and eat some awesome food) for a long time (since probably 12-14). My parents were always incredible with trying to provide great presents for me as a kid and I'm thankful for everything that they got me considering the knowledge I have of kids that had less than I back then. I always knew they did what they could with the money that they had.

your both party poopers, Christmas has an ultimate meaning but there is nothing wrong with wanting to give and get during that time.within reason of course..Chritmas is for more than children and theres nothing wrong with asking for/hoping/getting/giving a cool gift ! and i am bitter because the economy has made my last 2 Christmas' not as fun as I would have liked.

The only meaning and point of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, nothing more. Over the year and decades and centuries, Christmas has been transformed into a day of expecting to be getting gifts.

Would I be disappointed if I went a Christmas without receiving a single gift? Nope. I buy my own self stuff that I want, with my own money. The only reason I still receive gifts for Christmas is because my parents, my sister, my aunt and uncle, etc still buy gifts, regardless. No matter how many years I tell them I don't want anything, no matter how many years I don't give them a single thing that I want on a list, they still buy me gifts.

My birthday, my parents have finally given up on buying me gifts after telling them for years now that I don't want anything. Now I just get some money inside a birthday card. Now if only I could get them to give up on Christmas gifts as well. Personally for me, anyone that thinks less of Christmas in a given year, or thinks their Christmas was ruined, just because they didn't get the gifts they want, especially adults, they have some priorities to figure out and straighten out.

Same here. My parents stop giving me gifts when I was 14 or 15. By that time, I was old enough to realize how much the cost of living was and had no problem with it. I didn't get a car until I was old enough to go to work and pay for it myself.

Yep. Same thing here. These kids these days who act like you just physically assaulted them because you didn't buy them a car for Christmas or their birthday or something, like it's a god-given right in their eyes, make me want to hit my head against the wall.

Oh yes! Today is a great day! Just got some great news and I'm currently happier than a tornado in a trailer park. Once I get done with this midday air shift on our sister station in the next town over, leave a little after 2pm, make the drive back home through the driving snow, get back to the station at home around 3pm, drop off the station van, go inside, and pick up my brand new Pro Combat Navy football helmet that just arrived at the station today.

This perfectly sums about our modern generation of kids. I AM ENTITLED TO WHATEVER I WANT, WHENEVER I WANT IT AND I DON'T HAVE TO WORK FOR IT AND IF I DON'T GET IT, IT IS SOMEONE ELSE'S FAULT. Here's a thought kids... do something good for someone else and completely forget about yourself in the process.

Yes , we know what Christmas is the celebration of, thanks for stating the obvious, but saying its nothing more is just dumb,,do you spend an entire month consiously thanking God and Jesus for jesus being born ? NO, you dont and ,God has no problem with people getting and giving gifts or putting colorful lights up for a months period so why should you have a problem with it. I am not talking about the simpleton children who just worry about getting stuff and bitch if it aint what they want...theres nothing abnormal or childish about common sense people wanting a gift and giving a gift..getting a gift makes you feel appreciated.....and smooth, your post at the top of the page nullifies everything you said LOL..i dont see it say anywhere that you bought it for yourself...that you are reading a walking dead comic at your age is another story....

How does that nullify what I said? They buy me gifts for Christmas no matter how many times I tell them not to. It's just called I knew what gifts they were buying me ahead of time, besides the Walking Dead compendium. The fact is, if they hadn't bought me what they did, I would have ended up buying it for myself sometime over the next few months. If I don't have the money for it, I don't buy it until sometime further down the road in the future. Again, if a Christmas came and went and I didn't get a single thing, would I care? Not a damn bit.

And now that I am home, I have my new baby in my possession. The best $238.50 I've ever spent.
