Looks like you guys covered most of it. The one thing I find interesting is that in the comics Rick actually goes nuts, which we thought might happen when he put the badge away. But it looks like Shane is going to be the one. I totally saw him mowing down the walkers in the barn and not letting the group fend for itself. I think it was more of stress relief and taking out frustration more than protecting the group though. Also he sort of has a hero complex, especially with Lori.
It was a great ending scene, the irony was dramatic how Hershel saw those walkers in the barn as people and then Sophia comes out and you can almost collectively see the group say Fuck he was right.
I actually thought Dale was going to dust Shane in the woods. Especially when he said something about his is where you belong, but like JB said he's too vital of a character right now.
