Thanks bdoughty. I ended up taking a bunch of pictures while I was hanging out up there. When you're just standing in the bucket for two hours, 100 feet up in the air hung out over the middle of the road, there's pretty much nothing to do but take pictures and wait for the next time you go on air during a break. Down on the ground, you stay pretty busy collecting donations from people driving by on the street, but when you're up there in the bucket, you're just twiddling your thumbs for two hours.

I love NW Ohio weather in November. It was 50s for the first week and a half of the month, then 40s for the second half of last week. It's been 60s all weekend and will be remain in the 60s through tomorrow, then it'll be right back down to 40s come Wednesday. In the meantime, there's been thunderstorms all day, and now we're under a tornado watch until 8pm, and here it is the 14th of November.

The thing that's giving me an eerie feeling, is it was exactly like this back in 2002 when there was a tornado outbreak stretching from Ohio, as far east as North Carolina, and as far south as Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Georgia. On November 10th, 2002, an F4 tornado touched down in Van Wert and destroyed a cinema and other buildings in downtown Van Wert, and continued through Paulding, Putnam, Defiance and Henry counties. Ttanding outside at times today, it feels outside exactly like it did back then.

Fucking idiots. Time Warner Cable spent every single day last week fucking up recordings on my DVR with never-ending EAS tests day after day. Then today we have severe weather. No EAS alerts for the tornado watch. No EAS alerts for the 3 separate severe thunderstorm warnings our county and city have been issued over the last hour and a half. But they'll gladly interrupt shit with an EAS alert for a flash flood warning for Lucas and Wood counties, two counties that are 45-60 minutes drive EAST of here!

EU bans claim that water can prevent dehydration
Brussels bureaucrats were ridiculed yesterday after banning drink manufacturers from claiming that water can prevent dehydration.


EU officials concluded that, following a three-year investigation, there was no evidence to prove the previously undisputed fact.

Producers of bottled water are now forbidden by law from making the claim and will face a two-year jail sentence if they defy the edict, which comes into force in the UK next month.

Last night, critics claimed the EU was at odds with both science and common sense. Conservative MEP Roger Helmer said: “This is stupidity writ large.

“The euro is burning, the EU is falling apart and yet here they are: highly-paid, highly-pensioned officials worrying about the obvious qualities of water and trying to deny us the right to say what is patently true.

“If ever there were an episode which demonstrates the folly of the great European project then this is it.”
