I've been so focused on the big time launch titles that I've forgotten all about the indie games that are being released on launch day.
Damn that is not a bad deal at all. BUt I don't wanna drop a 100 bucks on Madden .. OH well.
You old ps3 account should work on the ps4 same account same company or at least I would assume it would.
A sexy new look for the ps4 below. I want it !

20 Exclusives, 12 New Franchises Coming to PlayStation 4 in Year One
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/...-4-in-year-one
Looking forward to seeing how the android/ios app works. I also want to hear more about your ps accounts. Will we have to sign in using our real names or can we still get by with our user personalities as in past? I don't know how I feel about the $50 for online multiplayer gaming... will playstation plus be included or an additional charge???
As I recall people only see your real name if they are your FB "friend" (or you allow them to do so). Otherwise its just your PSN ID.
You must pay for PS+. However, the "only" things behind the paywall are online gaming and of course the freebies/discounts from PS+. Amazon, Netflix, etc... can all be accessed without PS+.
As long as the store isn't a laggy piece of shit. I'm guessing better parts inside will help that.

Sony Sacrificed the PlayStation 4 Camera to Beat Microsoft on Price
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/26/sony-sacrificed-the-playstation-4-camera-to-beat-microsoft-on-price
Sony playing 3D chess while MS is playing checkers with their moves up to launch.
NOBODY WANTS A GOD DAMN CAMERA WITH THEIR SYSTEM. NOBODY CARES THAT SONY DIDN'T TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE LED BULLSHIT ON THEIR CONTROLLERS.Quote:
Ultimately, the limited functionality of the LEDs without the aid of the Eye won't impact the player experience or even drastically diminish the overall battery life of the controller, but it's a lingering reminder of Sony's failure to support the tech.
IGN writer desperately tryin' to give Microsoft fanboys ammo when they clearly don't have any (besides what they already had from this generation's setups).
I couldn't give two shits about some dumb ass LEDs on the controller or their supposed implementation of it with their camera bullshit. I want to play video games god damn it, not exercise. If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't be playing a motherfuckin' video game. :fp:
I agree. The article acts like it was a "big" sacrifice to take away the camera. Sure there are some things PS4 will probably never do now (call audibles verbally as an example) but I couldn't care less.
I've got an extra $100 in my pocket now and I'll gladly lose the Wii like function of Eye for $100.
I merely cited the article to show Sony is CLEARLY thinking about EVERYTHING they do with this launch. They are going for MS' throat and when they saw the opportunity to undercut MS on price they took it. They were very sly about telling retailers only no camera included. MS may have very well thought that Sony's PS4 was going to be the same price as XB1 w/o a camera (a feature MS might try to exploit/feature). Instead, Sony flips it on them and wins the PR battle with the lower price point.
Yeah. Letting the US side of Sony take over this launch could possibly be the best decision that Sony has EVER made for their console department. They are going all out to make Microsoft look like the inferior product (though Microsoft quickly shot itself in the foot with the whole "must have Kinect to operate console" bullshit for most).
@notaxation @ScottLowe only he got wrong about no game demo had camera support, Driveclub, Playroom. Do some research, Scott.

A more "positive" view of Sony's decision than the "pro MS" IGN article.
http://www.forbes.com/sites/davidthi...rtner=yahootix
I completely see the point behind what IGN was saying, which is rare, because most of their articles are horrible and riddled with moronic comments and statements by their writers. If you're not going to bundle the camera, why even waste your time trying to sell it? No one is going to buy it because no developers are going to support it, and no developers are going to support it because no one is going to buy it.
I don't think they were fan boy comments at all. It's going to be a virtually non supported accessory simply because it isn't bundled. With Kinect, it's coming with every console that's sold. Developers know that everyone has one and they're going to be more willing to support it. With Sony's camera, the install base is going to be fractured.
Personally, I don't care about motion controls and cameras, so I'd rather have the $100 cheaper price tag, however, the article is dead on.
I didn't get that at all. To me, he was saying it's pointless to even market the camera (which they did) because if it's not bundled, it's never going to catch on and be properly supported. Look at the Move. Has there ever been a bigger failure in such a highly touted and highly marketed accessory? I mean, that thing completely bombed and so will this. Even if Sony bundled the camera in some bundles and not the others, it still wouldn't catch on. The only way to make sure the device is fully supported is to package the thing with every console, like the One is doing.
I don't like it and I much prefer getting a console without a camera or other junk I wont use, but there's no denying that the only way to guarantee support is to bundle it, which is all the writer was saying.

Reading IGN's metrics the last few months, it's pretty clear: you guys really love PlayStation 4. Like, a lot.

Mob mentality
I think Xbox people need to realize they are more likely than not going to be in the exact position PS3 only owners were last generation (2nd fiddle). The vibe/buzz for PS4 has just completely knocked MS off of any logical message and they are reactionary to everything sounding like a bunch of arrogant snobs and/or crybabies.
At this point XB1 has no message and they simply need to hope COD and Madden people don't realize those games are also on PS4 and that parents are willing to shell out an additional $100 for an inferior console spec wize (but let's not talk about spec size b/c its embarrassing to those with shall we say lesser specs)
Sony Confirms PlayStation 4 Does Not Have a Power Brick
http://www.ign.com/articles/2013/06/...-a-power-brick
An inferior console that does more, but there are sacrifices with either choice. Still haven't seen definitive proof, just that the games will look better speculation, as to what PS4 brings to the table that makes it the go-to choice.
The only reason I'm regretting not having a PS3 at the moment is Last of Us.
As to how M$ is screwing up their marketing and message, yeah, and? So did PS in the past, so have many other companies in other product industries..........it is worth a laugh and the internet memes are entertaining, but that is about it. Still comes down to which product fits the user better, and right now.........well, that conversation of pros/cons we already went through in the General Next-Gen thread.
Maybe a better answer will show up after the holidays, as the comparison chart linked in the other thread doesn't align with the internet mob mentality/myths.
Not in a billion years. The PS3 was where it was at because of it's absolutely outrageous price tag, the complete lack of exclusives for the first several years, and the fact the system was nothing but a pain in the ass to develop for, not to mention it launched a year behind the 360.
The Xbox One has none of these problems. The price tag is more than reasonable considering the camera is included. It's got several exclusives that people are always excited for (Ryse, Dead Rising 3, and the jaw dropping Titanfall). It's using a similar architecture to what the 360 used and what the PS4 is using, so ease of development will still be there. Plus, they'll be launching within a few weeks of the PS4 either way, so that advantage isn't there, either.
They did what they had to do, IMO. They locked up timed exclusive content to the 2 biggest games in existence which will definitely coax consumers to buy their system (don't underestimate the power of having timed content on Call of Duty and Battlefield), especially the shooter fans. They introduced a system that will allow used games with no restrictions (I'm still pissed they changed everything, FYI) so no drawback there. Plus, they're going to appeal to families with all the TV features and all that garbage.
The 360 dominated America and regardless of price, it might not be as lopsided, but I'm pretty certain they'll win America again. It was always really close in Europe, and I don't see any reason for that to change. Sony will probably have a little bit bigger of a lead because of the TV stuff being suited for America, but it wont be a massive difference. Sony will own Japan like always.
Neither one of these systems is going to vastly outsell the other. In certain areas, Sony's console is much better, however, in other areas, Microsoft's console is much better. It's going to be a repeat of this generation, IMO, too close to care about.
I'll make that bet. Sony will win America this time around unless/until MS comes out with some "game changer" that justifies the extra $100 price. "Game Changer" = another 180 on price dropping it to = or below PS4 price and/or some other unannounced feature that completely alters the concept of the product.
Sony's DRM announcement won this console war the second they announced it at E3 and MS knew it was beat and tried to mitigate its loss by the 180 and they have been spinning ever since.
This time MS has no year head start and they are charging $100/20% more in price. Kinect is garbage as I can "watch t.v." with shock my t.v. and a remote faster than I can by saying "XBox Watch T.V.". Hell, many gamers probably don't even own cable t.v. (Cord Cutters) so why would that "feature" appeal to them?
You've lost one "bet" (DRM) already I suppose its time to make you eat crow on another.
You've said that about 3 times now, so I'll ask again, how? I said publishers will do it. I never said anything about whether or not Microsoft would change their policies, nor did I say Sony would actually do it. In fact, from the beginning, I said Sony would allow publishers to decide (which is exactly what is happening). I haven't lost the bet and wont until all publishers come out and say they wont enforce any type of used game restrictions.
On topic, I'm not betting who will win America because I don't know. I guarantee you it wont be as big of a difference as you think it will be. America is 100% FPS territory, and having timed exclusive content to the 2 biggest 3rd party shooters along with the most anticipated new shooter IP in Titanfall will go a long way in getting those shooter fans to commit to the One.
As for Kinect, that's your opinion. I don't like it either. However, selling 24 million Kinect devices in just over 2 years just goes to show you that the core player isn't the only player buying games or accessories. Whether you like it or not is irrelevant, because the consumer has shown that there's a good bit of interest in it.
Like I said, it'll sell extremely well in America, it'll do well in Europe, and it'll be irrelevant in Japan. Just like this generation. Regardless of who "wins," it'll be so close by the end that no one will care, much like this generation.
