After drop-offs in early sales from 2009 to 2010 by the Tiger Woods PGA Tour and UFC Undisputed franchises, NCAA Football 11 did not suffer the same fate in its opening week. On the PlayStation 3 and X-Box 360, sales for NCAA Football 11 increased by just over three percent compared to NCAA Football 10.

On the same consoles, sales for UFC Undisputed 2010 dropped 30% in week one while Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 fell a little over 3%. (TW 11 for the Wii decreased a staggering 83% in its first week.) In their first month on the market, UFC Undisputed 2010 dropped 59% compared to last year and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 fell 68% (all consoles).

The PlayStation 2 version of NCAA Football has been nothing short of a roster update and redesigned menus for several years and saw sales drop from 34,823 to 12,286. Produced because there has been a market for it plus low development cost for the studio, this low number may finally signal the end of development for the franchise on the PS2 - the same console where the franchise rose to prominence. ...

I recently had an opportunity to have a Q & A with Ben Haumiller, NCAA 11 designer for EA Sports. Ben was gracious enough to answer some important questions the community has had for this year's game as well as some long standing questions that have come up over the years:

Q - A lot of people are saying, in a good way, that this year's game "feels" like the old PlayStation 2 days. Is that a feel you were looking to recapture or is that just a positive by-product of Locomotion?
A - Obviously the goal every year is to capture the gameplay magic we had on the early 2000’s versions of the game. Our plan wasn’t to specifically recreate that gameplay, but instead do our best job to create the most realistic and fun gameplay on this generation of consoles. Locomotion had a huge impact on the success we’ve had this year both in the feel of the game but also in the look of the game since locomotion has changed the way the players move giving them a more natural appearance.

Based on feedback from the community on the Demo, and internal testing, EA SPORTS has addressed several issues after the game was sent to Microsoft and Sony. Courtesy EA SPORTS: The day before NCAA Football 11 we are hosting the 1st ever NCAA Football USTREAM Launch Party. Come back here on Monday July 12th from 2-5pm EST. We will previewing the entire game at your request. If you want to see Navy vs. Army in alternate uniforms at the Rose Bowl, Done! Along with that we will have designers in house, and most importantly we will be giving away copies of the NCAA Football 11, that will be overnight-ed to the winners so they can have the game on launch day.

The EA SPORTS Game Changers Championship Series kicks off with the launch of NCAA Football 11!

The Championship Series is a four-week event for NCAA Football 11 gamers on the PS3 and X-Box 360. Go online and play anyone who is also currently signed up for the event. Afterwards, post your score and feedback for your foe on the site. At the end of the competition, there will be bowl games for prizes including a copy of Madden NFL 11 for the winner.
