1. It's really not. The only potential way they could be is if this was some sales analyst site that compared the two. I can assure you that you're literally the only person here who cares about that stuff, so it's not related in any way.

2. I didn't see anything wrong with what you posted. It's stuff no one cares about, but as long as your fan boy comments aren't included with it, I don't think anyone will have a problem with it. It simply belongs in the Xbox thread. People go to the Xbox thread for Xbox news, and the PS threads for PS news. Post the Xbox news in the Xbox thread, keep your fan boy comments to yourself, and I don't see what problem would arise. I really don't understand why that is so hard for you. In a nut shell... yes. The controller that came with the system has already had the left joy stick cover rip off. The 2nd one is getting close. Thee is nothing I hear shaking around inside so that's good but it is pretty annoying to see a ripped off joystick cover 5 months after purchasing (it ripped at the 3 month mark).

I was just about to say the same thing. I still have my launch controller in perfect condition and I play the system daily.

There was something wrong with some of the launch controllers. I have 2 and one of them has the issue where the rubber is wearing off the analog sticks. Combined, I've maybe put 20 hours on them. I contacted Sony about it and they try to pull their usual BS of having you ship it in, waiting a few weeks, and then they ship you another one. If you bitch and complain enough they'll just ship out new controllers and you can ship the problem ones back in the same box.

Don't let it go, though. The rubber eventually breaks away completely.

Not at all true in my case. I'm not what you would call a hard core gamer. I suspect I have logged a lower amount of hours on the ps4 as some/most of you. This issue has been raised on other sites as well.

I have some for the Xbox One and highly recommend them for any console. Especially if you plan to play Trials Fusion on it. They help alleviate getting "Trials Thumb."

I'm guessing some of the instances are due to neglect. However, as I said, I have 2 launch controllers and the one started to wear pretty badly after less than 20 hours. It was ridiculous. Meanwhile, I have the other launch controller + the replacement with way more time and they both look brand new. They definitely had issues with some of the launch controllers.

No big deal, though, it didn't take me more than 15 minutes on the phone to have a replacement shipped to me.

You've been able to do this since launch. Just create a dummy Facebook account, upload whatever picture you want as your profile picture, link it to your PS4 account, and it would show your profile picture as your avatar. This just makes it easier.

The lame thing is that it only shows up as your avatar for people who have accepted your real name request. Other people see your original PSN avatar.

Played about a half hour of Daylight, I think it's a perfectly fine game. I kinda like exploring with a survival horror game. It's not as compelling as Outlast, but still a decent game in it's own right, and for under $10, worth it.

Child of Light is AWESOME. I didn't realize this would be a turn-based RPG game.

Note when you disable the HDCP (or whatever its called) you cannot use other video apps on PS4 such as IGN. Amazon, etc... Kind of a pain might just sell the elgato.

True. You could do this before. Somehow I recorded a whole game of NBA2K14 shortly after launch w/o having recording on. When I hit the share button to record the video clip, I thought nothing happened but the video was of the whole game. :dunno:

Since I've got a PS4 on hold at Gamestop, when my tax refund hits my bank account and I head up to buy the PS4 and MLB The Show, I'm also going to go ahead and just get a year of PS+ while I'm there at Gamestop, unless there is some place I can get it cheaper that I can either go to here in town or buy online and just get a code emailed to me or something instead of having to wait for some card to be shipped to me.

Alright, that's good. I couldn't recall if they were still doing those free games each month on the PS4 or just PS3/Vita. In that case, I'll definitely make sure to include a year of PS+ when I buy my PS4. I'm gonna do some quick googling here before bed, just see what the prices are for a year of + at various places. If they are all running generally around the same amount, I may just say screw it and go based on convenience of buying a year of + at Gamestop while I'm there.

Edit - Alright, so at least at Walmart, Amazon and Gamestop, they all run around $49.96 or so. The good thing, based on three websites, I can order a year of PS+ as a digital code that will be emailed to me, instead of having to order a physical card. So that will be very nice in future years.

And doing some additional Google searching, I'm not seeing much in the way of deals right now. You can occasionally get a good deal on 12 month Xbox Live codes/cards, usually get around $15 off. But everything I'm seeing for PS+ is showing around $49-$50. So I may just go the lazy way this week and get a 12 month card while I'm at Gamestop. That way I'll be all taken care up until next Spring and I can join you fellas for some multiplayer in FIFA and NHL this fall. :up:

Yep, I am officially on the Playstation Network now. I never did anything online with my PS2, so this is my first foray into the actual PS Network. So far I've installed and played a couple hours of MLB The Show. I've installed Infamous: Second Son, but haven't gotten a chance to fire it up yet. I also, after redeeming my 12 month card of PS+, downloaded Resogun and Warframe (or whatever the actual name was).

And now I know who I was forgetting, I forgot to add you jaymo. I was trying to remember who all to add as friends on PSN, I knew I was forgetting one or two big names.

Edit - And now that I think about it, souljahbill, and possibly JeffH are two more I need to add. Maybe I'll just start from the very beginning of this thread and go through page by page. That should cover a majority of the PS owners on here. :D

First, Chelsea turned a profit in 2012 after winning the UEFA Champions League.

Second, they sold Juan Mata in January for a King's Ransom. Why? FFP. I'm not sure if you know anything about it, but those are the types of things that keep you from having the penalties levied against you that City had levied against them yesterday.

On a positive note, PSG was found to be further upside down than City was.

If it's like Sony always is, we wont be getting those for quite awhile. Europe had colored PS3 controllers and systems a good 2 or 3 years before the US ever got them. When it comes to stuff like that and Sony, the US is mostly ignored. I'd say you would be safe getting the regular black one.

Unfortunately, it seems that is likely the case. I realize fall is pretty heavy loaded already with Destiny, Far Cry, Call of Duty, rumored Battlefield SWAT, and I'm sure a ton others...but I'd still like to see a major Sony exclusive in there. The Order looks amazing and I'm hoping it's not delayed. I'm also hoping they manage to stuff competitive online modes into it even though they said they wouldn't. That game screams for some.

MVP 05 baseball did 2.5 million for EA on the PS2 I believe. Then it got canned because of exclusives. Baseball used to sell more.the last few years have not been good. Baseball games aren't system sellers.

Cross-platform and specifically EA's games on last gen stayed around the 8GB limitation of the DVD for the 360. The first party games was where you saw upwards of 20GB for PS3 games.

Recently, she quit her job to start working somewhere else and her old job is paying her for her leave time. She offered to buy me a PS4.

I declined. With no NCAA game out this year, I can wait. The money can be used elsewhere anyway.

Yeah, this has been way outside my norm this year. I got my original PlayStation as a surprise birthday present as a kid (I at first had no clue what the hell it was when I unwrapped it) and got it a couple years after release. I got my PS2 fat at least two years after release, with a PS2 slim later down the road at least a year after the slim had already come out.

Xbox had been out for a couple years before I got mine. The 360 had been out for 2-3 years before I got mine. So buying the Xbox One on release day and then buying the PS4 within 6 months from its release, this has been way outside the norm from my usual console buying practices.

But yet, I am 100% happy with both purchases.

Is there any way to backup the actual game files (not game saves, the actual 20GB+ games themselves) to an external drive or something so that I don't have to redownload 300GB+ of games when I install the new one?

Just wanted to confirm that:

A. There's no way to backup downloaded games. You just have to download them again. I figured as much, but oh well.
B. That drive I posted fits perfectly and once the system allocates it's necessary system files to the new drive, you end up with about 1.75TB of storage. It's also noticeably quicker to load certain things. Installation was as easy as can be, too. Just rip open the external casing, remove the adapter, and it's good to use in the PS4.

Should be set on storage for a good while now.

Yeah, I had no problem recovering my saves. I just didn't want to have to download 350GB+ of digital games again since most of my game purchases so far have been digital. Oh well, I'll get them all downloaded eventually.

Anyone know how to call a time out with the PS4 controller used on a PS3 in NCAA? Before you say press start (options) and do it that way...it doesn't work apparently. The "call timeout" box is blacked out whenever I try that method.

I currently have to use my PS4 controller because my PS3 is a POS and makes me constantly try to pitch the ball when running and hitting no other button except the analog one to move. It's been like that since last year and same thing happened when playing Madden.

My 2nd controller to do this naturally. Also makes me pump fake when trying to pass on offense. Could try to fix it but it's under warranty and I'm sending it back. In mean time though I have to use my PS4 one.

I was in a situation with 14 seconds left at LOS in 4th quarter with time running down. Kept trying to call TO but it was blacked out everytime I hit pause. Tried for 10 seconds straight but it was the same each time. Had 3 TO's left.

None of the other buttons had any effect on anything really which I found out online. PS button doesn't do anything, neither does Share or touchpad. Options button is only one that works.

Read that when using a PS4 controller on PS3 you should keep a PS3 controller nearby to be able to exit a game. I tried to turn on my PS3 controller to call a TO but that didn't work and it was acting weird anyway.

Yeah the DS4 controllers don't work 100% for all games. I think what I did was use the DS3 to pause the game and call a time out so it basically just sets there on the coffee table for the rare times I still play the PS3.

Skip, I think you were just in an instance where you couldn't call timeout. If you had waited a half second or so, then Share and/or pausing the game probably would have worked... that or you were just out of timeouts and didn't realize it.

I had just completed a pass and clock was running. Then I waited until I was literally at LOS with time winding down still...still couldn't call a TO by pausing and trying to select "call TO".

It was blacked out and listed I had 3 TO's remaining. I hadn't called one all game because I didn't need to until then, then when I tried I couldn't.

Haven't played since then but I will try again later tonight. I initially was playing with my PS3 controller. Plugged my PS4 controller in and backed out of the game. Then my PS3 recognized the PS4 controller, but as I said when I tried to turn my PS3 controller back on some weird movements were happening on the Home screen so I turned it back off.

Good luck. At the rate Sony moves with firmware updates, we should have external storage support by around 2016. Whenever they release the firmware next week for 3-D BR support, it'll be the first feature adding firmware they've released in the 8 months it's been on the market.

...even though that's a feature probably less than 1% of their consumers actually care about.

I'm missing so many things feature wise from it:

1. Suspend/resume (this is the most ridiculous one, IMO...how do you tout this feature so hard and still not have it ready 8 months later?)
2. DLNA support (Xbox, too)
3. Home screen customization (at least let me change the color)
4. Automatic trophy synching.
5. Ability to pause downloads.
6. Notifications when friends sign on/off.
7. External drive support (and I mean being able to install FULL GAMES on it, too, just like Xbox)
8. Background music support of your own music - not just Music Unlimited. (Xbox needs this, too)

I could go on and on. It also blows my mind that we STILL can't change our usernames.

Never in a million years did I think we'd be 8 months into this console cycle and we still wouldn't have some of that stuff.

It's not that convenient, but you can currently transfer saved pics/videos to a USB drive and then put them on your CPU to upload to other sites/hosting services.

Played a little less than an hour of Rouge Legacy. It's Fun but REALLY hard. It's a 2D platformer with RPG elements to it (i.e. you have to build up your character with XP). Fun little game.

Back in April, we reported on a rumor that the PlayStation 4 was getting MP3 support. Nothing official came from Sony, but many people thought it likely that the console would get some sort of external music compatibility at some point. Recently, we got more evidence that such an update is in the works.

According to reddit user IWorkForSony, who has been verified by r/PS4 subreddit moderators as a Sony employee, Sony is currently developing an update for the PS4 that will bring MP3 and video player support by the holiday season. The user also said that DLNA media server support will come some time in 2015.

The user went on to address the upcoming public beta test for PlayStation Now, Sony's game streaming service that's been in private beta for a few months. When someone asked about rumors circulating that owners of PlayStation 3 games may get free access to those same titles via PS Now, IWorkForSony negated the possibility. "Those rumors are wrong," he wrote. "Entitlements for PS3 games won't carry over to PS Now." As for the reason why Sony will not provide discounts, he explained, "Unfortunately, it just doesn't make business sense for Sony to transfer entitlements to PS Now. Streaming games costs them money."

Finally, he revealed that a subscription model for PS Now is still in the works, and that the beta is to test different pricing models.

This week, the user also revealed that the PlayStation Mobile app is getting a substantial overhaul. "There's a redesign in the works," he stated. "It should be more functional and modern (read: less cheesy blue boxes)."

So a funny story for you. That Halo Collectors Edition and Halo 5 just sold an Xbox One. Mine!

I was downloading the DLC for Titanfall and my neighbor comes over. He likes Titanfall and wanted to see the new maps. So he starts talking about the new Halo's and that he grew up on Halo, yada, yada, yada. Went with a PS4 but is starting to get Halo remorse, so I propose the trade of all trades.

He gets my Xbox One, Titanfall, Watch Dogs and all my arcade games, along with my account so he could use the passes for Titanfall and Trials Fusion. Plus I had like $12 balance in my account and 3 months left of XBL.

I got his PS4, MLB The Show, Watch Dogs, Infamous Second Son, Trials Fusion (Disc) and COD/BF4 (which I did not want). Two controllers and a charging kit. His PSN+ had run out so we wiped his account.

He thought I was getting the better end of the deal but I reminded him of the Kinect and that his family could use it to do all sorts of things with it together. So we did the exchange.

I just got back from Gamestop and traded COD/BF4 and traded them in for The Last Of Us Remaster, a year of PSN+ and a gift card in case their were some PS4 arcade games I was interested in. In the long run I will be happier with the PS4 since I am more excited about their exclusives and I really wanted The Show. The crappy thing is I lose all my bases I used to create tracks in Trials Fusion in. Will miss out on Sunset Overdrive but that was the only game I was really looking forward to. Quantam Break to an extent but this deal was too good for me to pass up. I loved Titanfall and got more than my money's worth out of it and look forward to it on the PS4 down the line. Plus my best friend who lives on the other end of the state just got a PS4 so now we can play online.

Now to setup a new PSN account as I forgot what my old PS3 one was.

I had quite a few arcade games and it felt like it was a pretty fair trade. When time allows, I will let him visit the PS4 from time to time. ;) I did remove all my personal stuff from the account and CC.

Only got to install one game, Trials Fusion. It looks a bit crisper than the Xbox One version but I will miss the XB1 triggers and the rumble you get in them. That is my biggest sore spot with the PS4 controller. I will get used to the analog layout, just will take some time.

Yeah, it's pretty well a hopeless cause. Sony wont switch to that design even though it's clearly better. There's always a few 3rd party controllers that go with the offset analog sticks, but like you said, they almost always suck.

Just swapping out the PS4 sticks with the Xbox One sticks made the PS4 controller a lot better for me. The PS4 sticks are just very oddly shaped, too big, and are too low. My thumb was slipping off of them all the time. I swapped them out with the Xbox One sticks a few months ago and it's been perfect since. I definitely recommend doing it if you liked the Xbox One sticks - for $8 and 15 minutes of your time, it takes an sub par controller and turns it into a great one.

On another note, I have to give props to Sony. I had my original PS name hacked several years ago and wasn't able to recover it until a few months ago (this happened to my 2nd name as well, conveniently enough). I was happy just to finally get my original name back, since I signed up for PS network the day it was available on it. However, the person in charge of my case told me to continue purchasing games on the name I was using at the time and within a few weeks, he'd have all the licenses transferred to the name that was hacked.

I just thought he was talking out of his ass, but I logged on this evening and was greeted with all the licenses I've purchased over the past 3 or 4 years, so I can download all the games (PS3, Vita, and PS4) and content licenses I had and I don't have to keep my old accounts on the systems.

I realize it took them way longer to recover it than they should have, but I'm truly impressed he went above and beyond and did that for me. Theit customer service has come a LONG way since I first contacted them 3 or 4 years ago. Huge props for that.

Interestingly enough, I am a huge fan of the PS4 controller. I find it's a nice balance between the PS3 and 360 controller. It is bigger and weighs a lot more. However, it keeps the sticks in the same place as the PS3. The only issue I have is the cheap covers over the left analog stick.

I haven't had any problem with my sticks yet. I, of course, didn't get mine until mid-June so hopefully I missed the early shit batch.

Not even two years. Piss poor Sony. On the other hand it is The Show online, so I doubt it really affects a great amount of people since the netcode for The Show is also piss poor.

New images from the next PS4 system software update has been leaked, The new images showcasing a new design, Folders added and the system notification in game.



Personally, I think these are fanmade mock-ups (doesn't show # of friends online anymore) but hope they are real. Folders and the ability to see trophy info like that in-game would be nice.

1. In game notifications are much improved.
2. The main interface looks worse. I don't like the main interface now, but I don't see how that particular design would make it all that much better.

The PS3/Vita Hustle Kings, which was made by team who created Pure Pool now has a sequel. The sequel is made by Sony. Almost as confusing as having two billiards games released in such a short timeframe.

It will be a free to play game and details some of what you can play for free. I will stick to Pure Pool as I was not a fan of Hustle Kings and it's obsession with trick shots.

Seriously on the trail for a PS4, looking for the best deal out there. I see Dell has a PS4, and MLB 14 for $449.99 + it includes 3 months of PS PLUS

The bundle packs seem to come with the "download version" of the game. I'm old school and prefer the actual disk. The guy at Gamestop, nice guy, tried to sell me on if you buy the download version it will never go away...I believe him...except I did buy some NCAA stuff and maybe it's b/c NCAA is messy and EA and all but they are no longer there, when I try and re-download them it tells me the server is no longer available.

I'm concerned if I get a download copy of a game in a bundle version of the PS4 will it someday go away? Also if I have the physical disk at some point I can always trade it in at Gamestop for credit.

Yes the bundles are typically for download games. You lose the right to trade that game in. However, it is correct you can never lose it as your PSN account should always have your download history allowing you to re-download anything should the file get deleted/corrupted.

I generally don't download "big" games as it just takes a ton of space up on the HDD (unless its a free game on +) but thats just a personal preference.
