Also, I doubt they can now. Microsoft has much, MUCH more money at their disposal, and even with the massive success of the PS4, Sony is still having financial troubles. I'm assuming it costs a ton of money to lock up these fully exclusive/timed exclusive titles, and for Sony, it's probably just not worth it to them, especially with all their first party studios.

I must say, this PS4 is really SWEET! I was playing MLB The Show on my 32" LCD t.v./monitor. I had it hooked up HDMI but noticed the t.v. only displays in 720p.

I hooked the PS4 up to my 28" HDMI tv and HOLY COW! It displays the game in 1080p and the game looks FREAKING AWESOME!

The Show is really good. I'm not much of a baseball follower in real time but the graphics and game play are really good. I played my first full game tonight, on beginner settings and one pitch I threw was tipped and it hit the umpire in the face, dropped him to a knee I was like WOAH!

I also used my Gamestop Power Up points for their coupons and bought The Last Of Us Remade (used) and Legos Marvel (used). I was able to get TLOU for $20 and Lego Mavel for $15 with my coupons.

TOTALLY AWESOME, I was looking at the PS+ store and noticed some of these games, I don't want to go nuts and download/buy a bunch but they sure look great. It's cool they make a good pool game, this saves me from wanting to buy a pool table in real life, not to mention we have zero space for it.

Is there a good chess game? EDIT, in doing a search online, I see Pure Chess looks like a good one, everyone says the online or lack there of, makes it not good. Waiting on the PSN store to come back up to see how much it costs.

EDIT: ahhhhhh well boo for the short minute, I went to the playstation network on my PC wanting to browse games but it's not working. I forgot, I call Sony earlier today, I wanted to know how to register my PS4 for the warranty. The machine didn't come with a registration card and when you go online it says for PS4 online registration is coming soon. They (Sony) told me that since the PS4 has only been out since Nov 2013 all playstations sold are covered by the 1 year warranty which can be proved by your receipt. He said the online registration/warranty will go live after Nov 2014.

Morale of the story, when I called the Sony 800 # (which is anyone wants it, 800-345-7669) they had an automated message stating the playstation network was down, they are aware of the issue and working to resolve it.

Looks like Pure Pool will have to wait, it does look a little better than Hustle Kings, seems like the reviews I read on Hustle Kings, it's more about trick shots and less about my type of pool, "beginner pool".

Good news my buy 2 get 1 free coupon came in the email today from Gamestop. It's part of getting the powerup rewards card. I was able to pick up Watch Dogs, Tomb Raider, and Assissin's Creed IV. PS4 library is slowly growing, also put $5 down on Madden and NHL.

Nope but let me know how it goes. The sticks are starting to wear out on both of my launch DS4s so I'm probably going to buy a blue one in the very near future but if the thumb grips work I could save some $ and get some new controllers as an xmas present.

1st time I have ever had this issue with a controller. I think there must be an issue with whatever material they used on the DS4 b/c the problem is apparently somewhat common.

the DS4s aren't unplayable now but its just annoying to feel metal and rubber on your thumbs while playing so I think a grip/cover might be a perfect cheap solution to my problem on these DS4s and save all the variations for Christmas presents.

I just bought a fifth controller yesterday after getting a fourth one with my second PS4 over the weekend. In my 2+ months with the PS4 I haven't seen any signs of wear. I think it's the launch day ones that are crap.

I got my PS4 in mid May, have used it the most out of all my consoles since then, and my grips are all still good to go, no signs of wear. So it could be something with launch day ones.

The hacker group claiming responsibility for today's PlayStation Network outage sent a bomb threat, via Twitter, about an American Airlines flight carrying Sony Online Entertainment president John Smedley. Smedley has confirmed he is on the flight and that it was diverted for security reasons.

"Something about security and our cargo. Sitting on Tarmac," Smedley tweeted. Polygon has reached out to representatives of Sony Computer Entertainment America, SOE and the Phoenix office of the FBI for additional comment.

An American Airlines spokesperson confirmed to The Arizona Republic that Flight 362 was diverted for security reasons.

Earlier this afternoon, the hacker group that says it brought down PSN tweeted this threat to American Airlines' account. A tweet since taken down also contained an image appearing to show an e-Ticket for Smedley's flight, with a confirmation number, asking Smedley and Sony if this was indeed his flight. The hackers continued to tweet threats about the flight.

Both American's flight tracker and FlightAware.com (screenshot above) show American Airlines Flight 362 being diverted from its path to San Diego into Phoenix. The flight is carrying 179 passengers and six crew. It departed Phoenix for San Diego at 1 pm ET, according to American Airlines.

Smedley earlier today mentioned he was flying from Dallas back to San Diego; SOE has significant operations in both areas.

Short answer, yes - should be no problems playing offline. However, it sounds like the network is coming back online.

Yup this has been on my mind. I don't ever go digital as for console I prefer disk. However I thought I would try it out. I have the game fully downloaded so in theory when the clock runs out the game should open... hopefully!

Pretty sure there will be a tiny file that downloads to unlock it. Otherwise, you could just change the clock in your settings. :)

I just pre-ordered NHL 15 and FIFA 15 from the PlayStation Store. I'm very excited to get these 2 games up and running on PS4. As it is now, the only game I have (aside from Pure Pool and Valiant Hearts) is MLB 14 so I'm definitely chomping at the bit to get something new for the system.

Also, Minecraft will be available later today for the PS4. My daughter is obsessed with that game and has been waiting patiently to upgrade from the PS3 version. It is one of the reasons (GTAV) that I bought a second PS4 (because I know she will be playing that game 24/7 when she is here and I don't want to have to surrender my PS4 time to her, lol).

Wondering if I should give this a try, with external storage not yet around.I would never want to use a external drive as my main boot. I've had too many external enclosures that have suddenly died (usually because they were cheap or cheaply made), and if that's your primary boot method you're screwed until you buy another one.

That said, at least getting an enclosure and putting the HDD in it is better (or more failure-proof) than getting a pre-packaged external drive like WD's MyBook.

They will give me $135 for my PS3 on trade. Will be trading in my Madden for PS4 version and I plan on picking up infamous and a Lego game for the kids. Still have over $100 in gift cards to help and some extra games to trade. Hopefully I can get it set up tonight and get some Madden in.

I am very clueless on this machine right now. Not sure how to record video highlights on Madden (did one and it was far more than I wanted). Not sure how to manage game saves. I'm sure I can still do that outside the game right?

I tried Twitch for a bit. Do you always play "in a box" or can I expand the screen so its normal size without the twitch info on the side?

I'm annoyed right now that the PS4 has frozen when saving the kids Lego Hobbit game and it corrupted their save file. Twice with my brother over it froze loading a two player Madden game. I hope my machine is OK. I shut it right down and it didn't freeze this time but it worries me.

Perfectly normal. I've had my PS4 since launch and I've had the exact situation you described happen at least half a dozen times. As long as you're a Plus member and your saves backup to the cloud, your saves are safe.

Nothing wrong with the PS4. Their software is just buggy.

Has anyone messed with SHARE factory? It is awesome. I have a great video I put together with some of my FIFA 15 highlights but I can't post it because I refuse to participate in the self-indulgent, lascivious, "look at me, I'm important" stupidity that is Facebook.

I tried to copy the video to a USB 2.0 and my PS4 says there is no storage device connected. I was thinking of going to buy a USB 3.0 flash drive but I'm seeing multiple reports of them not working/fitting the PS4.

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience that might point me in the right direction. I'd hate to go buy something and have to take it back because it no workey.

You shouldn't need a USB 3.0 drive... a USB 2.0 will work, you just have to have it formatted correctly.

Put the flash drive in your PC and go to Computer, then right click on your flash drive; select Format. In the File System type, select FAT32, not NTFS. This will erase everything on the drive so you'll want to back it up first if there's anything you want to keep. Once it's done, it should be recognized with your PS4.

With regard to the PS4, that I'm not certain about... It should work but you really won't get much if any benefit out of it. If you plan to use it for more than just PS4, maybe, but if there's a big price difference, it's probably not worth it.

To be clear, what I meant about not wanting to reformat is that i didn't want to back up multiple gigs of stuff.

However I found one that I can reformat because there isn't anything important on it. I'm going to try that.

I think I'm "old" I don't do facebook much as honestly I don't care to know where people are going to the bathroom or what they are deciding on to eat. I also do not have a twitter account so I'm kinda lost as to things like Madden saying, "post your favorite screenshot to twitter." I don't even have a clue how to post a screenshot to twitter, how do you make your PS4 see/connect to a twitter account?

I can't wait for the update and Youtube app since I don't do Facebook either. I miss the Madden highlights features of past gen where I could pick a camera and record a replay. It was easy and I just wanted the option for a regular video file format. I'm still VERY clueless on how to save the right amount of replay and footage I want. I go to save and now there is a 7 minute video sitting there. I need to learn how to properly record video highlights as I've had a couple really nice plays in Madden that I just got frustrated and quit.

From reading other posts online it seems like people plug in their USB drives and it takes their PS4 up to 10 minutes to recognize it, then once it does recognize it, it takes HOURS to copy over a small video or image....

Maybe they will come up with something better. I don't have hours to spend on copying an image.

Another update.

I called my brother-in-law because I figured he had some extra flash drives laying around. Sure enough, he said he had a 2.0 16GB that I could try and if it worked I could keep it.

Got home, plugged it in and it is copying the file now. It is a Patriot 16GB, fwiw.

It says it will take 27 minutes to copy the file which is a 13 minute video. When I get it copied, I will try to upload it to YouTube. If it's all successful, I'll post a link here at TGT.

I am hopeful that it works. If so, I will be posting videos regularly.

Then sometimes when I try to get into the app the message section just spins and spins. I've gotten time outs before when trying to view or send messages from app.

Most of the issues have been happening on console side though. My friends list will show a few people then the slots become clear and blank.

Not happy to hear this, but glad I'm not the only one. I have 2 controllers and it seems like they don't last long, not nearly as long as my PS3 controllers. With my son and I both playing Madden like crazy it seems like one or the other is on the charger and as soon as we have 1 charged the other is low and in need of charging. I've been using the cord that came with the PS4, makes it a "front row joe seat" when you're charging and playing at the same time.

I have 5 controllers and there are several places in my house where I charge them.

For the PS4 in my living room I have the charge cable that came with it connected to my cable box, another one connected to my laptop and a third one plugged into the wall behind an end table.

In my bedroom I have the one that came with it plugged into the PS4 and another one plugged into the wall near a night stand.

Point is MOST micro-usbs will charge them, including phone chargers. I have found some that don't work.

It's either that or from a PS4... both display that message at the bottom; Vita probably as well. I think the app only works if you have a PS4.

I picked up one of these at Gamestop for $19.99. It charged a brand new controller in a few hours. It's nice how it has an indicator light the same colors as the controller, starts out orange and when it's fully charged turns blue.

Actually, a ton of people are having issues. Myself included. I can't log in to PSN now which makes my system useless. Others can't log into YouTube and some say their systems won't turn on after installing 2.0.

And I still don't even know where that power button is on my PS4 lol. I covered up the entire glossy section for 5+ seconds to get it to reboot. That's a major feature to put the PS4 into sleep/stand by and to have a big bug like that is crap.

So did mine until I put it in Rest mode. Just don't do that and you will probably be OK. Read a lot of people can't access the YouTube app although I logged in early yesterday and had no problems. Love how easy it is to quick edit and load a video (especially since I'm not on Facebook).

Or doesn't work. Just don't unplug it!! Some people got bricks after that. Make sure to manually turn it on by holding your hand in front of the power sensor for awhile. I tried turning mine on this morning and the controller stayed on but the orange light on the PS4 didn't change and nothing happened. Just don't unplug it.

In fairness to Sony they did add verbiage to shutdown screen that clearly states, "DO NOT UNPLUG SYSTEM WHILE THE SYSTEM IS ACTIVE."

Frozen Synapse Prime is very highly rated fun looking turn based game.

This. I was looking forward to Drive Club. I was sitting there all evening constantly checking the PS Store every so often to see if it showed up. It's now coming up on four weeks since the game released and still no hint of the PS+ version releasing. It may be a fine game, but with as badly as this launch got absolutely horsefucked, I really have no reason to trust them from now and into the future with my time or money (if I were to actually buy the full game).

Couldn't agree more, I was actually looking for a good driving game and saw this game was going to be on PS + I figured I'd wait until it came out and give it a shot, well still waiting. I guess the full version is good but again, I'd like to try before I buy.

From reading the comments, people using USB connections etc...are those people using the PS4 for other things than gaming? I understand it will do more, hopefully, knock on wood I don't have issues but I only use my PS4 for gaming. I don't use the Netflix, or music, or search the internet or do any of the other features it does....I guess I'm old. It's like my "smart phone". I use it to make calls, take calls, send and receive text messages....that's about it. I've tried to search the internet but I get frustrated with how slow it is and then when it does work it's in 6 pt font and I can't read the thing, becomes tedious trying to pan around a webpage. Morale, I use the PC for the internet computer stuff, cell phone for phone calls, and PS4 for gaming.

I'm sure I'm missing out on something neat like time travel or something else cool but atleast my devices do the bare minimum for which they were created without little to no hiccups.

On a side note, I will say it's kinda spooky, at 4AM my PS3 turned on, it's in our bedroom, it woke my wife and I up, I guess it was doing some sort of auto update, it turned on, lit up the room for a few minutes, then shut off. She asked what was going on, I told her, "IT'S ALIVE!"

You do realize that even if Xbox sold 2 consoles for the rest of the year and ended up being ripped off the market, Microsoft would still be far away from being "finished," right? I mean, you do know that Microsoft has WAY more money available to them than Sony does, right? The PS4 is selling like nuts and Sony is still posting losses overall.

Unless you just mean console wise, in which case it's going to be extremely hard to do this year. Sony has LBP3 left going up against Halo and a cheaper console. At the very least, sales are going to be much closer in November-January, at least in the States. I don't know how much appeal Halo has worldwide, but it's massive here.

I heard a report at some point that said Xbox1 would catch up or be closer to PS4 in sales if they sold to more countries. From the way it sounded PS4 is offered to a lot more countries, so they have a much larger market.

Microsoft makes the bulk of their cash in NA. They do have some share in Europe (mostly Great Britain) but they're a non-factor in Asia.

FINALLY. I was able to upload my first video directly from the PS4 to YouTube. Being able to do this will eliminate the need for a flash drive and using my PC to upload. Essentially, what that does is eliminates the need to copy it to the flash drive which generally takes 25-45 minutes on my videos. It's a nice feature but it's not as awesome as I hoped. I was hoping I could upload the videos directly from SHAREfactory instead of having to first copy it to the system's Gallery. If it worked the way I'd hoped, it would have saved me another 15 minutes or so.

Lara Croft & The Temple of Osiris looks like a fun little coop game for up to 4 people online. Comes out Tuesday. Not sure how much it is but my be worth a pickup.

The first one was a lot of fun. Similar in ways to the Lego games but not as kid like, less treasure hunting and more combat. Still has the puzzle elements. The first one had two different characters with distinct abilities that you had to use together properly in the co-op boards. I really like the fact you can do up to 4 players and I think that's offline too. It's on sale for $17.99 in Canada for pre-orders, $19.99 afterwards at normal price.
