Gilksey's fix works, but it will take several hours if you've never done it. If you go that route, I'd recommend fixing it, buying a new one, transferring your data, and trading the old one ASAP. I've done the repair many times and I'm not inclined to do such things. It can be done, if you're determined to do it.

If that's the case, they're probably not doing anything. They realized the world was ending and it wasn't worth the effort, so they're just giving up bullshit updates to make us think it's getting fixed. We'll get another Blog update next Friday, "We once again want to issue our sincerest apologies to all of our beloved Playstation Network users. Unfortunately, after careful consideration, we've decided that the potential of the impending apocalypse is too great to bring the network back up, as it's pointless to bring the network back online when world wide internet access will be severed. We thank you for the countless hours and money you've spent on our network, and we hope you continue to enjoy our excellent catalog of exclusive single player games while hanging out in your bunker. Holy shit, maybe they are doing something!We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.
If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.
We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

Yeah, mine picked up after I said that. It's already done now. Now we just have to wait for Sony to bring it back online. Tonight? Tomorrow? My bet is for Monday or Tuesday.
I'm not going to guess for a timeframe, but what about TONIGHT...lol
