Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. just announced that PS4 has cumulatively sold through more than 7.0 million units globally as of April 6th, 2014. PS4 software sales are another bright spot, with more than 20.5 million copies sold at retail and PlayStation Store worldwide as of April 13th, 2014.

I've seen a few armchair analysts speculate that Sony released the impressive 7M number today with NPD numbers coming soon (tomorrow?) and the possibility the XB1 outsold the PS4 last month.
I'd say it's almost a guarantee that Xbox One outsold the PS4 in America in March. Titanfall + numerous price drops + massive advertising effort should result in an easy win. If they didn't win by at least 50,000 units sold, they should consider dropping the price ASAP, IMO.
On another note, the fabled firmware update that was announced last month (and still doesn't have a release date) has had rumors pop up that we'll finally be able to change our usernames without having to create an entirely new account. Hopefully that turns out to be true. We've been able to change our Xbox usernames since 2007, no reason why Sony can't offer the same. Hell, charge a fee for it for all I care, but we at least should have the option.
Hopefully suspend/resume makes it in there as well, but I'm not holding my breath.

Introducing: SHAREfactory
The 1.70 update will enable SHAREfactory, our new rich video editor app for PS4 that makes it easy for you to customize your gameplay videos:
With SHAREfactory, you can now easily combine your captured video clips for editing, personalize them with special effects using filters, transitions, and themes, as well as share them with your friends and social networks. SHAREfactory also allows you to personalize your videos by adding text, stickers, and a set of included audio tracks, as well as video commentary with picture-in-picture capability with PlayStation Camera. It also allows you to import your original music to add to the custom soundtrack for your video.
Take Your Share Anywhere
Once you’re done with your masterpiece, you can easily share your SHAREfactory videos to Facebook, or export them to an external USB storage device to upload them elsewhere, another new feature coming as part of the 1.70 system software update. Other PS4 SHARE enhancements include the ability to change the recording time of your gameplay to shorter increments, the ability to change who you share your clips with on the SHARE screen, and the removal of default saves for screenshots and video clips. In addition to these SHARE enhancements, the 1.70 update will allow you switch off HDCP, enabling you to capture video directly from your HDMI output so you can record and share longer clips of your gameplay sessions — a feature I know many of you have been waiting for. We are excited to see what the PlayStation Nation does with these new social features, and cannot wait to get them into your hands!
Play as Soon as the Game is Released
Providing you with immediate access to your games is a priority designed into PS4, and something we will always strive to make better. We’ve had a great response from PS4 fans about the Play as You Download feature, the snappy load times when launching and playing games, and the general speed and responsiveness of the UI. The 1.70 update adds features to build on this idea and make it faster to play the games you pre-order with an auto pre-download capability, which allows you to pre-download your select pre-ordered game up to several days prior to release. If you have the auto-download feature enabled, it will automatically pre-download your pre-ordered game so you can play as soon as the game is unlocked on release day.
As I mentioned earlier, some of these features were a direct result of the great feedback we’ve been getting from you, our dedicated gamer community. We enjoy listening to your comments, and encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts with us. And this is just the beginning. We’ve got a lot more coming in PS4 system software update v1.70 and beyond. The PS4 experience will constantly evolve, and new innovative ideas can come from anywhere to ensure the platform continues to deliver the best in gaming and entertainment every time you turn it on.

Nevertheless, pre-loading is a very nice addition. Hopefully it's for every game.
That SHARE feature looks pretty cool, but I am just glad we can export highlights to USB now.
I would guess the update will be out within the next week with this amount of details being shared, but I could be wrong though.

You really only have to read the first page to truly be freaked out that there's apparently a TON of people like CLW out there, but if you can stomach to read the stupidity long enough, it keeps producing the same high quality content. Here's the real gem, though:

It's not hyperbole, it's not fanboy drivel. It is LITERALLY it for Xbox One. Microsoft has nothing left, nothing they can reveal tomorrow would fix the hole now created. There is no reason left for any one, hardcore or casual, to substantively invest in a Xbox One. Except if they want to play Titanfall. Which will also come to PS4 at some point.
Sony took the last reason away that anyone would NEED to own a Xbox One over a PS4 (except TV SPORTS KINECT LOL GAMING), and the cavalcade of tiny titles that will be nice but won't stir up any sales is not going to salvage the bloated, overdesigned behemoth that was Xbox One.
There may be some hardcore gamer's that stick around. Some did it for Gamecube. But the last bell tolled. Maybe next decade.

On topic: time for the old $400 Xbox One, I believe. Seems they got outsold by about 60k in March even with TF and all the price cuts, which is definitely not good.

Why do I crack you up? My post was completely serious. I made sure that it had absolutely no joking tone in it. Nobody over here is obsessed with the console wars like you are and I know several of us spoke up about you infesting these threads with that garbage. I like to think of this place as a place where we can have intelligent conversations, which is why I've stuck with these guys so long (whether it be Utopia or when they setup TGT).
There's truly no reason why you can't post the numbers or other content without all the other junk.

B/c you continue to pretend like you didn't argue back last June that XB1 was going to win the console war against PS4 in America. They clearly aren't after losing a month when their big exclusive "console seller" they spent a TON of cash on (Titanfall) couldn't even put them over the top.
