Good hire for Pearl can flat out coach. I suspect the Tigers will become a legit NCAA/Sweet 16 type club in 3-5 years if they stick with him.

It sounds like Virginia Tech has lured away Buzz Williams from Marquette and there are rumors Ben Howland may land at Wake Forest.

Shaka Smart to Marquette rumors seem pretty strong, but nothing confirmed.

You'd think he'd wait for a much bigger fish.

Good for him. If he likes where he is, he shouldn't leave. I wish more coaches would stick with a smaller program when the big guys come calling.

I'm sure if Duke or Carolina come calling, he'll leave. That might be what he's waiting for.

True but the likelihood of either of those teams calling are a long shot just because the coaches they currently have

Still if more coaches did that they would be at their jobs alot longer.....or be fired before getting to that point.

Hard telling how much longer Coach K and Roy will be there. You never thought there would be a time that Lute would be gone from Arizona either.

I'm talking short term. Put it this way I don't envision either of them leaving or being fired in the next 3-5 years.

Can't recall but thought there were quite a few consecutive factors that played into Olsen leaving

And at the same time I could see Shaka staying at VCU that long to wait for one of those two jobs.

I agree with this sentiment 100%. We want to see the players stay loyal but we don't hold coaches to the same standard. He's in it for the team, the school and the programme and not just looking for a promotion.

Even though Buzz Williams left Marquette, he was of the same mold. He gave a good seven years with team, but they were hitting the plateau from his Sweet 16 days, so I don't blame him for a new challenge at Virginia Tech.

K's replacement will almost certainly come from "within the family". Most likely, Dawkins, Amaker, Wojo, Collins, Capel and most likely not until at least the end of the 15-16. Several "insiders" believes Wojo currently leads in K's mind for the replacement. However, there are also rumors that should Stevens struggle in the NBA Duke would pursue him as well.

I could as well just mean't in the short team which is how some of these coaches seem to think.

Oh Coach K said he's likely staying atleast 5 more years which I figured around the max.

Frank Haith leaves Missouri for Tulsa. Seems like he might be trying to stay one step ahead of the posse.

Really nice and personable guy, but while at Nebraska he didn't even try to contact or bring in top talent. Though, he did bring in some good role players & JUCO talent.

For USM's sake, I hope the team improves their execution following timeouts. They almost always seemed like turnovers or bad shots under Sadler at NU. Offensive droughts were also a staple. His opening press conference stated the team would be run n' gun, but that never even attempted to materialize.
