Just made my picks. I agree with mors - some tough picks right out of the gate.
same for me. I tried every name/password combo I have ever used and couldn't get it. I know I had one, but I guess it's been so long since I used it, they got rid of it or something?

Made my picks this morning. I have to agree there were a couple of really tough decisions. I took a few chances on some gut feelings that could be completely off. Hopefully it'll work out.

I really like that if you are in more than 1 pick em league, there is a button that allows you to bring your picks over from the other league so you don't have to make multiple selections.

Oddsmakers set "lines" on the games for wagering purposes. "Betting against the spread" simply means that the "line" will be calculated with the final score to determine which side won the wager. If team A is favored by 7 points (-7), then a wager on team A must produce a final score that has team A winning by at least 8 points for you to win the wager. Team B (+7) must stay within 6 points or win the game to "cover" the spread and win the wager.

    Examples:

    Team A 30, Team B 21 (Team A covered by winning by at least 8 - a bet on team A is a winner)

    Team A 30, Team B 24 (Team B covered by staying within 6 points - a bet on team B is a winner)

Team A 30, Team B 23 (neither team covered - the bet is a "push" or tie)

The Oddsmakers job is to set a line that gets equal money on each side. If they accomplish this, the "house" will always make money because of "juice" (a lesson for another time, lol). This is the biggest reason lines move (or change) from the time they are released until when the game starts. For example, if the majority of the money is being placed on team A, the Oddsmakers will move the line (say to team A -8) to "encourage" more bettors to wager on team B so the house can stand a better chance of having 50% of the money placed on each side.

yeah, thanks. i've basically always understood all of this. i just wondered how it applied to the picks in this game. its confusing to remember- Did I pick the losing to team to cover or not ? haha

i always look at the point spreads for a college fantasy league my friends put together

Word of warning guys ... I played last year, and Weeks 1 & 2 were the easiest of the season. If you're struggling now, get ready ... you might have a long season.

with today's games added, looks like I'm out in front(10-6 record). dang TTU had to blow their lead late and lose the spread.

I'm 6-10 in this league, but i'm 9-1 in my ESPN league. Just goes to show you i'm not very good at picking against the spread.

me and JB on top with 11 points after all week 1 games. good start. I actually picked the winner in all but 2 games, but lost because of the spread on a few games.

Boy oh boy, week 2 is TOUGH to pick.

Should be pretty damn interesting to see how it all plays out.

I did awful with only 7 correct (and Notre Dame's push) but I'm not out yet.
