Relax. What you think is fair and what the law says is fair aren't always the same. And of course it's all about money! What part of college football isn't about money? Every school, conference and coach will screw anyone over to get more money. Why should the players be any different?

EA isn't putting out a college product unless/until they can pay athletes who will sign a contract with them permitting their use in the video games (just like the professional sports unions).

Sucks for people losing their jobs but as a business proposition there is no point keeping people around if they cannot add anything of value to a currently viable product. I suspect there was quite a bit of overlap with 2 people having basically the same job for Madden/NCAA. Only way the NCAA guy keeps his/her job is if he/she is that much better than the current Madden employee in which case they will lose their job.

On the legal side, how is ESPN be able to use names in promoting games, etc.? They're making money from promoting these players.

This thing called the 1st Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances
It WAS EA's best defense but they gave it up and settled instead. ESPN has a 1st Amendment right to use college Player's likeness but your correct the logic of the claim would be the same. The ONLY difference is ESPN is the media and liberal judges love the media where they HATE evil profit making companies.

Interesting and upsetting read. Fired as they walked in this morning, including Jeff Luhr. Hopefully they find employment elsewhere as soon as possible.

    Poor Ram

Said the idea was to turn the game over to fans, on the faith they know best what they most enjoy. Not only would that have entailed an overhaul of the existing customizer—TeamBuilder, which deals with single teams—the vision extended to things like stadium construction, layer editing for uniforms

What can I say other than I wear many hats here at TGT. You could also call me the ONLY person posting any news in the Other Video Games Section of the Forums, Resident MS Hater, College Basketball Freak, etc....

Meh it's roughly 50/50 Youtube vids and articles. But for those posts there wouldn't be what 2/3 - 3/4 the activity there is in that portion of the forums + my Lincoln v. Douglas debate with IOU and we are prob looking at 80%+ of the activity in that portion of the forums since the announcement of PS4/XB1.
