Nice thoughts. I'm never going to get this demo with the hotel's connection. Ugh.

The sliders do NOT have special teams sliders so that blows. They removed RB Break Tackle and the defensive sliders like pass rush and block shed for running. The only plus is they added pass coverage in addition to pass reaction.

Game 2 played 100% different than game 1... it was all defense as I lost 10-7 to SF. A couple of extra notes after two games.

    1. Zero penalties in two games
    2. zero fumbles in two games
    3. speed backs will be huge in this game as power backs can be slow to get off the mark
    4. most injuries are not reported so you don't what's happening
    5. cpu logic is better but still sometimes questionable.
    6. ask madden... don't use it IMO

game 3: penalties at 100 test

    GB vs Seattle (me)

    penalties in order

    1st q
    facemask: 1
    facemask 2
    2q.
facemask 3 (me) (on a kickoff)
    facemask 4
    facemask 5
    facemask 6
    holding 1 (on a kickoff)

In the first half five of the six facemasks came on qb runs. My facemask was on a kick return

    q3.
    false start (me)
    roughing the passer
    holding (me) negated a td
    facemask
    holding (on the kickoff)
    falsestart

    q4.
    falsestart (me)
    falsestart (me)

I blew out GB 35-7 in this game. With all penalties at 100:

    Seattle: 6 - 45
    GB 10 - 102

It seems that false start, and face mask and the occasional holding are the only penalties called. Next game I will probably keep everything at 100 except I will turn facemask and falsestart down to 75.

I am really enjoying very slow with 70 injury and 70 fatigue. I might try slow next game though just to see. Either way, default is just too fast. I also need to look at threshold. Last year I had 30 so that may be the next test.

Okay... family is back home... no more games until tonight.

I got 2 defensive pass interference calls 1 on me and 1 on the CPU using default 50 so I leave that alone. I noticed more calls the higher the slider got with offsides, holding, false start, face masking, clipping, and roughing the passer. I utilize the premise that penalty sliders affect gameplay so I change them to mostly impact areas of the game outside of the penalty being called which is sad, thanks EA Tiburon.

All the offensive players ratings: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B3Ut...pli=1&sle=true

Some of Miami's OL are off. Josh Samuda too low, rookie Dallas Thomas too high (been bad). Lamar Miller a touch low but he's more injury prone - same for Daniel Thomas. Got one guy in the wrong spot but the big dogs are all pretty good. Rookie RB Gillislee has high blocking ratings for some reason.

Clint wrote in this blog that the QB accuracy ratings are what they actually use for their accuracy as true percentages. Aaron Rodgers deep ball is 87 which means he's accurate 87% of the time on the deep ball. That sounds too high to me: http://clintoldenburg.sportsblog.com...k_ratings.html

On PFF Rodgers went deep 62 times last year with 26 completions and 7 drops. That still leaves 29 times where there was no completion. At 87% that means only 8 should be misfires so that says 21 of those 29 misfires were pass defenses and not simple incompletions. Not sure I'm buying that. Deep balls have quite a few balls that land out of bounds or just out of reach. To say a DB got his hands on the ball almost as much as the WR for the best deep thrower in 2012 is a stretch. Maybe this is why so few balls hit the ground in Madden.

I wonder if opening day and/or season ticket will have a roster update? The Raiders Taiwan Jones is listed as a rb but this year Allen is converting him to db. Also, matt McGloin is not listed but he's had a great camp and I like him a lot more than Wilson. I may need to create a custom roster as I have every intention of having McGloin on my roster.

I will definitely be taking the latest roster and editing my Dolphins to make sure they are more accurate. Quite frankly the biggest problems I saw were some vets and draft picks being too good. Some of the younger improving players were too low. They aren't real time accurate but that's the problem with having one guy do all the ratings. It's real tough. I know Donny Moore would do a better job on every other team but I can do a better job on Miami.

Why does EA send games out to people won't don't know anything about football?

Another "quality" video from a person who has the game early via EA. Warning this guy is not a football gamer and hasn't played Madden in a long while... On the bright side though it is PS3 footage and it looks pretty decent.

Just as a side-note... this is another game on PRO settings with no tweaks. I just wish people who get the game actually LOVE football and play it with a passion. Let's see some all madden footage with major slider tweaks.

I agree. A lot of these guys are nobodies too. Why is EA doing this? The only thing I can think of is they are sheep who will provide positive only feedback.

I'm looking at the Madden ratings and they removed acceleration. I don't care that much because I think EA never did it right. They had some big guys with ratings in that category way too high. Some guys like Barry Sanders had incredible acceleration too although just building it into the speed rating is generally fine with me.

The Dolphins starting RB Lamar Miller is way too low at 75 (that's 55th in the Madden RB list). Heck, ex-Dolphin and one-foot-out-the-door Ronnie Brown is rated 78. A curious thing as I started breaking down the formula calculations, Aaron Rodgers was really rated about 104 last year (all ratings are capped at 99 on display) but he's not 100+ this year. He's actually what he says. But AP calculates out to 102. Another funny thing, Carolina Panthers "LT" Patrick Brown is a real outlier for me since his formula rating is off by 5. Almost everyone comes out exactly on or no more than 1 point off. It's because his overall rating is based on the RT calculation (where he is bang on) but he's listed as a LT for some reason. It's as though the database has some outdated fields compared to others.

Pass and run block ratings are still ignored for RBs in their overall ratings. I don't know about the 3rd down back ratings.

Yeah I noticed that acceleration was missing. I was very curious as to why. In the demo I have not had a run over 30+ yards. I'm not sure if that is because of speed burst, no more acceleration rating, or both. I really don't understand anything about ratings and Tiburon football games. I would be curious to know how many of the ratings work/impact the game to begin with. On default backups play pretty much like first stringers.
