Decided to cancel preorders and get the Launch Day Bundle with Battlefield 4 and a year of PS+ for $499.
Basically save $20 and I'll be set on PS+ til late 2015 now.

Should have kept it and sold it. Today's the last day for guaranteed launch day shipping, meaning once launch day gets here and people can't find one, $$$$$$$$. I don't think it'll be on PS3 level, but I guarantee you they fetch over $800 for the first few weeks.

It doesn't. It's just exciting that someone is finally creating a SOCOM like game with all the amazing features the old SOCOM games used to have. The fact that David Sears is leading development on this just makes it 10 times as exciting.

I went ahead and got the launch bundle with Battlefield and PS+.
When it involves David Sears and the word SOCOM, hell yes. I spent countless hours back on the PS2 days playing SOCOM and SOCOM II. In fact, I think I might still have SOCOM II laying around in a box somewhere. Some of the best and funnest shooter games I have ever played.
This. There's no game like SOCOM 1 and 2. The strafing gun battles are what I miss the most. The closest thing I've ever gotten to that is Gears of War shotgun battles, but even they're not quite as fun. In those games, if you sucked, you didn't have aim assist to help you out like today's games, or regenerating health so that you could just run away and heal. If you sucked, you got owned time and time again, which is exactly how it should be. Thankfully, it seems Sears is wanting to revive that style of play, and I can't wait. I've completely grown tired of today's shooters babying everyone and giving everyone a fighting chance with garbage like aim assist, low health, regenerating health, etc...
Hell, back on the PS2, I only played SOCOM and NCAA Football. Of course, both of those games were excellent at the time, so I didn't need to play anything else.

I just don't see how the game will be fun honestly, yes it was fun then as I also played SOCOM II, but this COD generation doesn't really live by the same "unwritten"
rules that were around then, you had some campers but now with no respawn, no aim assist, and no regenerating health.....I forsee a camping orgy in that game immediate future.
Doesn't matter if they camp. Camping is so ridiculous in Call of Duty because by the time you see them, they've already hit you twice and killed you. When you have to hit a person 5 or 6 times to get a kill, it isn't nearly as effective because you still have to maintain your aim. Plus, the gun hot system is making a return, so if someone is camping, you'll know when you get in their general vicinity.

A NeoGAF user by the name of “Nealand Liquor,” an employee of a “very large retailer” (verified by a NeoGAF mod) posted that he/she had received a product release schedule that indicated an “unnamed Sony console” will launch October 21.
Nealand Liquor explains that the “slim” versions of the Xbox 360 and PS3, as well as the Wii Mini, were listed as such, however the 3DS, Wii U and Vita were only listed as “Nintendo/Sony console,” respectively. This suggests that this “unnamed Sony console” is not a variation on an existing console of theirs.
The user goes on to explain that these release schedules are “designed to allow us time to create our instore merch plans.”
Launching the Playstation 4 on October 21 would place it weeks ahead of the Xbox One launch in November.

So just to clarify, we cannot play PS3 downloaded games from psn on the ps4... but... if you have ps+ it will transfer over to the ps4? I read this online but it doesn't make a lot of sense to me.
Your PS+ subscription transfers over. I'm pretty sure PS3 PSN games are not going to be compatible for PS4.
