The QB's are pretty effective with the Read Option.

Messing around other night, South Carolina's QB had 125 yards rushing on on 12 carries on Heisman. The RB had 50. When the Defense bit on the fake, almost everyone bit on it.

Not that it's news but I find the Read Option to be fairly effective.

    1. there are LESS penalties called than last year (facemask, false start, roughing the passer, clipping sliders get some results)
    2. 99% of the time the qb keeps the read option and 90% of the time he goes to the right~ IMO the read option (on Heisman needs to be toned down a bit)
    3. cpu calls far too many rb screens on third down
    4. cpu field goal kicking needs sliders. Last night, BEFORE slider tweaks the cpu hit 57 and 59 yard fgs (Wake Forest)
    5. 4TH AND 1/2/3 often the cpu will go for it, regardless of field position
    6. you need to wear headphones in order to appreciate the sound in this game as regular tv speakers don't do much (too quiet)

I will say though that even with certain terrible things (gray facemasks, overpowered cpu option, wrong commentary at the wrong time, etc.). this is the BEST NCAA FOOTBALL on PS3. I still hold 06 on PS2 in my heart as #1 for overall enjoyment but this game is a lot of fun.
Jaymo76, I agree with you on NCAA 06. It's the best NCAA I have ever played and still play it to this day. I can name several things wrong with 06 but it is still a blast to play. I will get to play 14 tomorrow and I am sure I will find glitches but will have fun at the same time. Just out curiosity, what offense did you run in 06? I have played 06 so much that I think have use every type of offense imaginable.

I thought the Nat'l Champ game should have the full entrances including the music video. Also, it'd be cool to see them warm back up after halftime. And where's the band seating at neutral site and bowl games? I know I sound nit-picky and unnecessary, but I think it'd be a cool touch

Remember last year when the game would freeze when you tried to switch audibles during dynasty (not during games)??? I thought it was fixed BUT twice today I have tried to switch audibles and twice my PS3 system has frozen/locked and I have had to reboot it. Has anyone else experienced this on PS3 or is it just an anomaly?

I was all about the custom playbooks. Basically with Arizona St. I ran pretty much all I FORMATIONS. My philosophy was ground and pound. I won SIX national championships in a row with Arizona St. before I quit there and took over Michigan St. who was ranked like 99th or so at the time. I built them into a powerhouse after about four seasons and in our first NC game I faced off against Arizona St. Just talking about 06 puts a smile on my face. I hope I can reflect on NCAA 14 like this in the future.

Any word of truth to the speculation of a day one patch??? Historically EA has done a lot of day one patches.

Ok, so I know they made winning front and center in your coach's contracts, but is that all there is now? Just meet the target wins each season? None of the usual stuff like pass for X amount of yards each season, average X amount of points each season, win X amount of your rivalry games, sign X amount of two star recruits or better, have all of your needs filled before the off-season, etc?

If all that has been chopped for a sole focus on wins, that sucks. I liked having to meet the slew of contract goals, it made the season more of a challenge because I had those goals in the back of my mind every game I went into. Now if all I need to do to be safe in my job is meet Utah State's target of 6 wins per season, well that's no fun.

Just fired up my first game of NCAA '14 (only took until 10:30 Monday night ), doing a test dynasty with Utah State, playing game one at Utah while I work on some sliders. The very first pop up after the kickoff, they went to the sideline and focused my coach, who is starting his first year as head coach of Utah State, and they made special mention of it being his first game at Utah State in the commentary.

I have no idea if that was in the game last year as I've been only an offensive coordinator since NCAA '12, but it was sweet to see that.

No, it wasn't in last years game. That a new addition

That's awesome. I'm looking forward to what other things pop up now that I'm a head coach in my coaching carousel dynasty and I'm gonna be on the field full time. Being only an OC for the last two versions of NCAA, I no doubt have missed out on a lot of things in the presentation category.

Has anyone else been able to complete a pass in this game? My god. Halfway through the first quarter as Utah State vs. Utah, I'm 2-9 passing, with 5 drops by my wide receivers. Pretty much every single pass ends up as a drop by my receivers. They can't hold onto everything. Hell, I've got my catching slider bumped clear up to 70 and they're still dropping stuff left and right. This is ridiculous.

Smooth, you are on the road and the cpu is encouraging you to set receiving to "conservative." This is a composure situation and getting your receivers to focus on catching will improve your stats.

To my knowledge that has all been removed and it's about results: wins and bowl games.

Hmmm. I'm on default sliders, but completing around 70% of my passes on average every game.

Well, I also was trying to use my sliders from '13 and just edit them as needed to balance it out. But yeah, that wasn't working too way. So I've completely scrapped my '13 sliders and am currently using your sliders that you posted in the sliders forum for the demo. Working a bit better, I can actually complete a pass.

Definitely gonna take some working to get everything where I'm happy. Hopefully not too long though as I'm itching to get my Utah State years fired up.

    Damn.

I really liked those contracts. Yeah, the originality of a lot of the goals sucked, but I like the extra factor of having to complete them to keep your job security in good graces with the school. It gave that extra level of stuff you had to accomplish on the field besides just winning or going to a bowl game.

Apparently Utah State's receivers just really really suck.

That, and like jaymo said, we are playing on the road at Utah. So that probably isn't helping matters.

Oh for Christ's sake. I'm a freaking dumbass.

I just checked my adjustments between plays, somehow, I somehow set catching to freaking aggressive, having my receivers constantly going for a big play instead focusing on making the catch on conservative. I ALWAYS set my catching to conservative because I'd rather have a sure catch and 5 yards than a slight chance at a big catch for 20 yards. Somehow, when setting my offensive adjustments at the start of the game, catching somehow ended up on aggressive instead of my intended conservative.
