The problem isn't the market. The "problem" is either shareholders expectations due to COD and/or CEOs who think every new game they come up with is going to sell like COD. Tomb Raider (and other games) sell 1-2 MILLION ($120,000,000) in a month and consider it a failure!?

Something is out of whack with these companies. They are either spending too much in advertising; development; salaries; overhead or something to consider bringing in $120 million dollars in a month a failure for a consumer product.

    Exactly.

The cost to create these games is getting utterly retarded (pretty much every game that isn't an indie title is costing $150 million to make or more) thus every game has to be a watered down piece of shit so that it can appeal to the largest amount of people possible so that they have a prayer of making the money they spent on it back.

Was thinking about making a pre-order today on Amazon but noticed NONE of them had the "usual" .99 Release Day Shipping "deal" and got to thinking I haven't seen that offered in awhile.

Paying $8 for release day shipping seems a little steep. Anyone know if/when Amazon decides to drop the charges for release day shipping?

I go with Marketing(advertising), rarely does a company spend too much on actual resources that it takes to make a product better.

That's why I go with Prime. Their streaming library has been great. I buy stuff from them all the time from them so I take advantage of the 2-day free ship; which means a pre-order shows up on release day.

I know we have a Prime thread but someone is going to have to explain to me what I get (other than free 2 day shipping) for the $80. I know there is some sort of streaming but I dunno how it works (I was under the assumption you had to pay for whatever you watched from Amazon).

You can go monthly for $8 a month. As soon as they switched to the monthly model, I was on board. Streaming is just like Neflix, they have about the same set of movies, there is an app on the PS3, and lately they've been getting good TV series exclusives.

But is the streaming free or do you have to pay like $5 to stream a movie?

EDIT: also how fast does your net need to be to stream HD affectively? During my 4 months w/o a job we downgraded our internet to like 12 MB/s download speed.

If the movie is a Prime streaming movie, it's free. You're thinking of renting new releases, that's separate. Prime has it's own set of movies that are available to stream just like Netflix, and very similar in it's library.

Yep, Prime streaming is exactly like Netflix. There have been many things I've been able to watch on Prime that Netflix doesn't have.

Justified and Falling Skies are the big ones for me.

That is what I have (12mb) and movies stream in HD without a hiccup.

This is the section that shows all the movies included with Prime.

    Those.
    I started watching Fringe also.
And American Horror Story. And Walking Dead (which I pay for).
And there is some Zombieland series starting up that I haven't looked into yet......

    Call of Juarez: Gunslinger

At the very least give the demo a shot. This is a pretty fun little game and I am really early in.

Just about finished with the Story mode in Call of Juarez: Gunslinger and just wanted to pimp how much fun this game is. The story and the voice acting draws you in. Your character rewrites history through the story but they give you what actually happened by finding collectables that go into detail about the places and people you just fought through. If you like FPS and Westerns this is a no brainier for $15.
