Are playbooks assigned by team or by coach? A concern of mine

Ok...let me paraphrase that I didn't play NCAA '13 and played NCAA '12 a bit, but nothing in depth.

I listened the podcast and heard them discuss about the new option plays that were included in the game as an attempt from EA to make teams play true to their real life counterparts. While I truly appreciate this idea, one thing concerns me. Are the playbooks assigned to teams or to coaches? If a coach, who is say an option/up tempo coach like Chip Kelly leaves Oregon(yes I know he's gone in real life this is an example) and takes over for Louisville and Charlie Strong leaves Louisville and takes over Oregon, how will the teams play? Will Oregon still be an up tempo team like Kelly's playstyle or will they become a smashmouth team like Strong's playstyle?

In fairness that is a hard one to handle. Take Texas Tech for example. When Leach was fired, in came a coach with a conservative game plan (Tuberville) and strong defense. He had to let the talent dictate his gameplan and under him they still spread it out and flung it around. The only minor change was a few more carries for the backs.

Tied to the school is closer to what happened but not always realistic.
Tied to the coach and poor Tech might have not have won a game his first year.

The best answer would be to tie the playbooks to the coordinators, this way if a new coach gets hired and he keeps the existing staff the playbook stays, if he fires the existing staff the playbook goes.

That being said, the coach profile settings, run/pass ratio, etc should default to the HC, this would take care of both problems, the playbook could stay the same but if Coach "X" likes to run the ball more the team will run the ball more even if they are aligning in the same sets they did the season before.

    For future consideration:

Tie systems to the Head coaches, for example Nick Saban's profile:

    Offense:
    System - Pro Style
Style of Play - Zone Running

    Defense:
    System - Odd Front
Style of Play - Under Front

Granted the game would need a lot more depth before it got to this stage however.

The way it is set up now (in '13) if an Air Raid coach takes the GaTech job, the Jackets will run the Air Raid. If Paul Johnson is hired at UCONN, the Huskies will run the Triple Option. So, as of the last game playbooks are tied to the head coach. Even if you have an O coordinator whose background or playbook is different.

    this.

playbooks are tied to the head coach.....although, the no-huddle aspect of an offense is tied to the school.

When Coach Meyer came in he kept Coach Fickell and our defensive scheme was unchanged.

True but when choosing your team in a dynasty game the cpu displays the playbooks for the coordinators, not the HC. This is really annoying as you think you have to defend the pistol and go up against A 4-3 d only to find out that the team you are playing is running the option and has a 3-3-5 D.

This is false. In '13 one of my favorite changes from '12 was that they tied the no huddle to the coaches and not the school (which is exactly how it should be done). Now all coaches have a "no huddle flag" which can be set to none, conservative, or aggressive. With that now if RichiRod takes over Alabama, Alabama will run an up tempo no huddle spread. Likewise if Brett Bielema takes over Oregon they'll run a huddling smash mouth pro style attack.

That's how it works. Coach's tendencies and playbook are what makes the coaching carousel a good feature. Teams change dynamically in dynasty.
