Nope. Most likely got a nice severance package in exchange for a NDA and agreement to Microsoft's very own witness protection program. Mr. Orth is now Mr. Jones living in one of those cities he claimed he would never live in.

Microsoft is working on a number of launch titles for its new Xbox console. One of the first games to launch on the next Xbox will be Ryse, according to multiple sources familiar with Microsoft's Xbox plans. Microsoft originally unveiled Ryse at E3 2011, promising an exclusive Xbox 360 release with Kinect functionality. A release has never materialized for Xbox 360 and the company has remained fairly silent about the title's progress, noting that it was still in development in mid-2012 and again earlier this year. The Verge understands that Crytek, along with Microsoft Studios, has been rewriting the game to take advantage of its next-generation console, due later this year.

We're told Ryse is designed to be Microsoft's new Gears of War / Halo mega launch title. It's set in the Roman Empire period and uses deep Kinect integration to allow players to slash and kick at enemies. We understand that Ryse will take advantage of the new body tracking improvements in the next Kinect sensor. Ryse is part of four major launch titles for the next-generation Xbox. Sources tell us that a new Forza title with "super life-like" graphics will also be made available at launch, alongside a zombie game and a family game set on an island with Pixar movie-style graphics. We're told that the family game will utilize Kinect to scan a body and generate a virtual character in the game.

We understand that these four titles are a small selection of the launch titles for the next-generation Xbox. Third-party support is said to be strong in the first-person-shooter genre. Microsoft is also working on some improvements to Xbox Live, including a switch to currency over the Microsoft Points system. Microsoft is expected to hold a special Xbox event in May, ahead of a full unveiling at E3 in June.
Well, that confirms next Xbox first for me more than likely. I have wanted to play Ryse ever since I first laid eyes on it, and I'm really glad they're still doing it...it was originally supposed to come out on 360 and since it hasn't been talked about in 2 years, I assumed it had been canned. On top of that, Forza is my favorite racing series, even more so than Gran Turismo(never thought I'd say that a few years ago).

I wonder what the zombie game is.

Probably State of Decay's "Class 4" portion... the part that makes it more like an MMO. Or maybe they've decided to just make SoD a next gen title...

You might be right, I totally forgot it was eventually involving into an online game. I don't think State of Decay is going to be next gen. As far as I know, they were getting close to entering certification a few weeks ago, so that leads me to believe it's only a month or two away from release.

I guess my inner Left 4 Dead fanboy is hoping for L4D3, but I sincerely doubt that's a possibility.

I would love for more L4D but Valve as a developer has been beginning to frustrate me the past year or two... it's time for them to come out with something new but at this point, if it's not HL3, people will revolt.

Their offering at E3 2012 was horrible. So horrible they are not even going to be at this years E3. I am starting to think Gabe enjoys talking about games more than actually making them these days. Plus he probably enjoys counting all the money made off of Steam and Dota 2.

I have this weird feeling that games could have a backseat on this reveal.

    It will go something like...

Celebs carrying around Xbox gift bags.
    Kinect 2.0.

    Kinect 2.0.
Video montage of some games including an unveiling of an EA game.
    Specs and features detailed.

    Did we mention Kinect 2.0?
Long rant about how the Next Box will do everything and Social media, blah blah blah. Xbox Live detail for the upcoming system.
Celebs with Xbox Gift bags leaving to go score some coke, paid for by the swag in the Xbox Gift Bag.

Doubt it. I realize if you read around the internet with the doom and gloom articles, it's easy to think that, but Microsoft has way too many studios that have been way too quiet for way too long. Alan Wake is almost certainly in development. Gears of War Judgment was mostly handled by People Can Fly instead of Epic, and with Epic's love affair with Microsoft, it's almost guaranteed they're either working on a real Gears or something else that will be exclusive to Microsoft. Halo 5 is most definitely in development and probably has been for well over a year. Forza will be getting a new entry in the series. Ryse will almost definitely be revealed. Black Tusk Studios was created a year or two ago and has been tasked with creating "the next blockbuster" and it's a Microsoft owned studio. There's also rumors of a new Fable game, possibly a MMO.

There's several others that have been mentioned, too. Whether or not any of those are actually revealed at the announcement event is anybody's guess, but they definitely have plenty of exclusive titles in the works. When you consider that Sony really didn't set the bar that high(they revealed 3 exclusives by my count, 2 of which being sequels to series that have performed under their expectations sales wise), Microsoft doesn't really HAVE to go crazy and reveal a high number of games to have a successful conference.

Reveal Halo or Gears, show what Black Tusk Studios is working on, reveal Alan Wake 2, show off Ryse, and then go in depth about the improvements to Live, graphical capabilities, UI, show the console, give a reasonable price, and you'd have a lot of happy people willing to shell out money on launch day.

Crossing my fingers MS is DUMB enough to not even mention games. IF they go that route they are going to get CRUSHED unless they do something absolutely INSANE - like give me 5000 live cable channels for free while making my own microbrew.

It would be funny if any console maker did that, but it's unrealistic to expect that.

And why all the hate and wishing for MS to fuck up in some way?

Yeah. I do expect them to bring up their big exclusives. However, my hunch is Sony is focused 75%+ on gaming where MS MIGHT actually be 50/50 now or even less than 50% focused on games with the 720.

You seriously need to get it out of your head that everything I post is serious. I swear I need a signature that reads..... the views expressed in this post do not necessarily reflect the views of its author.

...and besides, let's be realistic here. Microsoft could literally not reveal any games, have a higher priced console than Sony, and have the ridiculous no used games and required online access to play games. As long as they secure the timed exclusive DLC for Call of Duty and have the Xbox logo beamed at the end of the Call of Duty commercials, Microsoft wins North America. It's really as simple as that for them.

But, for the record, I'm expecting them to announce at least 2 of those games I mentioned earlier. Like I said, there's just way too studios under Microsoft control that have been quiet for too long for there not to be a few exclusives announced during the reveal.

My bad man. It just came across to me like you were seriously hoping for them to fuck up in some way. It just seemed like some of your posts in recent weeks have been almost like you wanted MS to blow it. I know there are some out there who do want that to happen, all the console war douchetards who want every console but their preferred console to fail, which I don't understand.

People bitch all the time about EA having exclusivity in college and pro football games, well, it would be the same thing in the consoles if one failed, MS or Sony would have free reign. Right now the market can support 2 consoles (3 if you include the Wii), so in this case, having Sony and MS going head to head is good for everyone since it keeps them pushing things to try and reel in more buyers. If Sony or MS take over sole possession of the console market, why would they need to keep pushing the envelope, at a potential loss to themselves, when there's no one else in the market to do anything about it?

So my bad. A misreading and misunderstanding on my part.
