Yeah, I got the vibe from that scene that Carl shot him because of a mix of "I didn't get to be in there shooting with the rest of the group" and a take no prisoners mentality, killing anyone who isn't part of their group. I definitely see Carl turning into a mini-me Governor. He is has definitely lost a sense of humanity in him, especially after his reaction to the bus of Woodbury townspeople showing up at the end. He is not the sweet little innocent kid he was in the first two seasons. He is turning down a darker path.
The Governor killing almost everyone out of the Woodbury Army, that shit took me by surprise. I knew he was pissed they had ran away after everything down in the Tombs and then getting shot back at, but damn, I didn't see him just going on a mass murder spree of all of those people. Last night was the turning point for the Governor turning into a 100% psychopathic deranged killer (EVEN MORE than he has already been this season). He has snapped. Like I said in my reply to JB's post, I have no doubt he is going to come back to the prison for revenge in season 4. It's personal now and it's no longer going to be about just killing all of them. Like with Andrea, Milton and Merle (leaving him that way for Daryl to find), he's going to want to cause loads of pain to all of them before allowing them to die. Next season is going to without a doubt take that very dark turn of horror stories in the prison that we've all heard the comics themselves take.
Honestly, I'm not surprised. If I had to choose, I'd rather the prison than Woodbury. Rick and the crew already proved how easy it is to get into Woodbury when they stormed it earlier in the season to rescue Glen and Maggie. It has a lot of area to cover and protect and a lot of places to sneak in. The prison is, to an extent more secure. Yeah, the Governor and army were able to break in just by ramming the gates with trucks, but once they were inside the prison, it becomes much more difficult to get to areas, and you can lock down certain parts much easier with the prison doors. I'll take concrete and steel bars over a town with a bunch of piecemeal roadblocks.
I'll be honest, I was mixed about Andrea. For the last three seasons I have been waiting for the day to come of Andrea's death, but goddamnit, they killed her off in such a way last night that it really made it a bittersweet moment to see her end come. Any other episode I would have been jumping for joy to see Andrea die, but the way they did it last night, it really killed any joy I might have had of seeing her finally killed off the show.
