That had to tear some knee ligaments and break some bones on the ones that were hit
I remember when that happened last year. The local sports talk radio guy who also calls the Texas Longhorn games was working that high school playoffs and there is audio of him calling that incident on the field that the station often plays as intros coming off of breaks.
That is as highlight worthy as the Grant Hill alley-oop back in the day. Very nice.
you could get dizzy after watching that enough times. damn. i thought i remember someone saying that wakefield could throw his knuckler without it spinning at all. but that may be dickey's knuckle curve, idk?
Dude that is amazing that someone could throw a ball and it do that. The fucking catcher didn't even know where it would land, how in the hell are you suppose to hit it? lol
knuckle ball pitchers often have only one catcher that they'll throw to, and it'll usually be the backup catcher (unless your starter is a stud). there's so much movement to a knuckle, that you're lucky to hit it at all when a pitcher is on his "A" game that day. basically, your only chance is to hope that he fucks up on one pitch and then make him pay for it.
lol. the catcher closed his eyes at the very end. bet he started praying "God, please help me catch this"
I'm not much into Baseball but I kept hearing of Dickey last season and the crazy pitch he threw. When I seen that GIF I was like that shit isn't fair. If it looks like that when he releases it then it must look 2 times crazier coming at you however fast he throws it.
If that thing is around the 80 mph range, I'd put my bat down and say man this is BS. Thats like some wiffle ball pitching no one liked when they were younger. That or something from cartoons growing up haha.
lol. i hear ya. dickey's knuckleball is like 70 mph, whereas tim wakefield's, was like 50-60 mph. how fast you throw a knuckle is kind of a pick your poison. throwing it harder gets you more crazy movement like that gif, but its way harder to control and its harder to keep the ball from spinning. plus its closer to the timing of other pitches for batters. throwing it slower means its more accurate and easier to throw for the pitcher (throwing a 50 mph knuckleball every time, could literally mean that you can throw 7 days a week), but there's very little crazy movement in between being released by the pitcher and caught by the catcher.
here's some crazy whiffle ball pitchers for ya
Dickey's Knuckleball. Is that a sex act?
Hahaha...Yep putting the bat down and saying fuck it.
I mean the catcher isn't even sure where it would land. Granted both have different views of the pitch, still the same as in the pitch is coming right toward them....haha there you go JB you can included that part to go with your post
