Word is Gran is leaving Florida State, but it can go one of two ways. Arkansas State or Cincinnati to join Tuberville (who he is good friends with).

They also just said on ESPN that Golden said that he is not interested in the UW vacancy. Glad to hear that.

Kingsbury got a hell of a deal from A&M (as well he should). Petrino was never a good candidate for you anyway. Harsin is an interesting one for me. Lots of good press coming out of Boise State, but his star has dimmed with Texas' offensive struggles.

Rumors swirling that Bryan Harsin will be the next Arkansas State HC... nothing official but some are saying it's all but done.

Earlier in the day I didn't know much about Harsin but after reading up more on him, I'm very excited (yeah yeah, every fan says that about the guy they just hired). Particularly because he was the OC during Boise State's run including back in the 2007 Fiesta Bowl against Oklahoma (ie Hook & Lateral, Statue of Liberty). I'll be very curious to see what he does when he has full control. Hopefully he keeps our current DC and our OL coach... both originally from this area and both highly regarded with those they've worked with. His Shift & Motion offense certainly sounds interesting and should be fun to watch.

Not to temper your excitement, but my UT buddies were excited when he came to Austin. Now, I'm fairly certain they will be indifferent that he's leaving (though I haven't asked yet).

Understandable, and that's why my excitement was tempered earlier in the day about him. However after looking back at his Boise State offense, one can only assume that Brown probably reeled him in a bit, similar to what Chizik did to Malzahn his last year as OC at Auburn. We'll obviously see what comes of it but for now, there's certainly more excitement than Eddie Gran or Willie Fritz would have brought.

Texas fans have consistently blamed the OC over the past decade for their problems. Although Manny Diaz is taking some heat currently at DC because of the piss-poor tackling this season by UT defenders.

Anyway, people were pretty excited about Harsin when he came in because of what went on at BSU and getting rid of Greg Davis, who they really hated.

I'm not fully up to speed on UT insider stuff, but have to think part of it is what Mack Brown has been transitioning to more of a SEC-style offense, i.e. stack up on talented RBs, have a strong OL, and have a great defense, while not needing a top-flight QB.

Problem for UT is that the OL hasn't been dominant and their defense failed miserably this year compared to expectations (injuries to Jackson Jeffcoat and their MLB didn't help). They certainly have talent at RB, but their WRs besides Shipley have had dropsie issues.

So funny story I heard on the radio about Tuberville. He was having dinner with a JUCO recruit when he got the phone call. Right as the food was coming out to the table, Tuberville excused himself and never came back

He was on Dan Patrick this morning and said that that's not true. He said that Friday dinner is always mostly about letting the recruits get to know their host. He said he didn't leave unexpectedly but when his meal was done, he left... he didn't say good-bye to any recruits because he expected to see them the next morning because he didn't get any contact from Cincinnati until that Saturday morning.

Not sure if I know which side to believe but 99.9% of college football coaches are scum.

I don't think it's 99.9%, but it's definitely up there. Or, at least, Division I football makes it seem like it.

I think it is more likely that the good guys don't make the news.
