I received an e-mail Sunday morning; at 3:23 AM to be exact.Gotta love customer support sometimes. I e-mailed Amazon to inquire what you might be signed up for that I'm not. The first guy basically said "occasionally we send special promotions to infrequent customers". Not what I was asking at all.
The second has said they've signed me up for their promotions newsletters again. I'll see if anything changes.

Yeah, I got an email at 4:50 this morning. I don't think I'm subscribed to a newsletter, it always says "Dear Amazon.com Customer, Customers who have shown an interest in video games might like to know that Amazon Video Games will have a Gold Box Event on Tuesday, December 18." in the email, and comes from a store-news@amazon.com email address.

Huh, that's odd. I know I don't always get Gold Box day emails, at least I didn't usually in the past. The last 4 or 5 times they've done them, I've gotten an email for them. Could possibly be due to how many games I've bought in recent months, between NHL 13, AC3, Halo 4, and others.
On the upside, I think I finally found where the option was in my Account settings, so I'm significantly more likely to get e-mails going forward.
Even if that never happens, I always have you guys
