If I was G I would not want him either. They would end up being in the same position they are now in a year or two if Petrino had any success at all. You hire a big name coach like that and you are just asking to be another stepping stone.

They didn't fire him for cheating on his wife. They fired him for giving his mistress a job within the football program without disclosing the conflict of interest and exposing the university to legal action as a result.

Be that as it may, I think if there was some sort of informal poll across the country most would say its because of his affair.

I understand you have an actual attachment to the school but you do realize we are talking about ark. State. All that you have listed to me is stuff I see daily at my current job no one has loyalty to a job why should football coaches be any different.

Great pun on the motorcycle ordeal.

And if we took an informal poll of university presidents and leading businessmen, "exposed my previous employer to possible legal action" would not be something they'd want to see on a resume.

if schools worried about character, the SEC wouldn't have half their coaches

Character isn't the problem with Petrino. He's out-and-out screwed his last two employers. That's more than "character".

That is no different than most employees in America though, as soon as something better comes along we leave and I am sure ifwe asked there old employers they would say they screwed them. The only Difference here is ESPN!!! lol

Not really. Your average employee can't screw someone over like he has. Average CEO, maybe.

Basically, he's been Brian Kelly's understudy his last 2 jobs and won so this is his chance to shine without being in his shadow.

Supposedly an offer is on the table from Arkansas State for Petrino. 1.3M per year, 3M buyout first year. Wouldn't be surprised for something to be announced early next week.

If not Petrino, other strong candidates are Neal Brown (TTU OC) and Eddie Gran (FSU Assistant HC).

Apparently it's losing momentum actually... apparently there are some big money donors who are very much against Petrino. Added, there hasn't been an official offer to Petrino. I think just feeling out on both sides, though Petrino is very much interested.

That said, apparently Malzahn recommended to Chad Morris (Clemson OC) that he be the next one & done at ASU and he does have some interest, though not sure how much.

With Tuberville taking over in Cincinnati, that could lead to Neal Brown being back into contention at Arkansas State...
