Via Rhys Elliott of Alinea Analytics on X, College Football 26 was downloaded 3.1 million times in July including 1.9 million copies in the first week following launch.

The strong launch week saw CFB 26 as the top game on PlayStation and Xbox, to no surprise, and the third most downloaded game across PS, Xbox, & Steam (where it is not available).

Elliott notes that on PS5, the game only sold 1/3 as fast as College Football 25, which could reflect the "more normal demand curve" mentioned at the most recent EA Earnings Call. Xbox outpaced PlayStation 1.7M to 1.3M, though that number was aided by EA Plays 10-hour trial of the title, which is included with Game Pass Ultimate.

College Football 26 was downloaded 3.1 million times in its launch month after its July 10 debut (or July 7 for Deluxe and MVP Bundle owners). Notably, downloads on Xbox outpaced PlayStation (1.7 million versus 1.3 million). This is largely due to EA Plays 10-hour trial of the title, which is included with Game Pass Ultimate.

College Football 26, which launched on July 11, is off to a blistering start. In July, it generated revenues of $73.4 million via 1.3 million copies sold, scoring it the top spot. Our data shows that just 5% of College Football 26s copies sold on PS5 were physical. While things are mostly digital now, this share is far lower than average, owing to College Footballs deluxe version (which includes early access) being digital only.

The top spot went to EA Sports #CollegeFootball26, with a whopping 1.9 million unique downloads. It officially launched on July 10 (or July 7 for those who bought the MVP Bundle or Deluxe edition).

College Football 26 had twice as many downloads on Xbox versus PlayStation, owing to the 10-hour trial for EA Play members (also available via Game Pass Ultimate).

College Football 26 has now amassed a million players on PS5 alone 97% via the US, unsurprisingly. Around 95% of the PS5 players played the previous title, College Football 25. And about 67% played Madden 25, suggesting a cohort of players interested in College Football games but NOT Madden.

On a more gloomy note, College Football 26 is selling about a third as fast as College Football 25 on PS5, perhaps due to the pent-up demand for last years edition (the first College Football release in over a decade, during the PS3 and Xbox 360 generation!)

However, I expect a significant increase in sales when the real-world college football NCAA season kicks off next month.
